easiest thing to do is to walk into a halifax branch and pay the cash in there, immediate
#2
do you maybe have a friend who banks with the halifax and they can transfer it using their account - and u give them the money?
#3
I do my transfers on line. just enter all bank details and it gose over within and hour. i think your to late for chaps today.

A chaps will go if you do it tom, ahve you got an online bank account?
#4
chaps cost about £20

withdraw money, go to his bank and just deposit it over the counter with his sort/acc code

they said it would cost £30.

he wont let me draw it out in cash as its £8100 i need to give him. he wont let me walk through the town with that amount of money on me incase something happens
#7
Chaps usually costs about £25 but the money will be transferred within one working day.

Can't you pay some in tomorrow, saturday and monday?
#12
By the sounds of it, paying the £30 seems the only safe way then.
Unless your Brother is willing to go into town with you and you both spread it between the 2 of you and go asap to halifax.
My and hubby did this with 6k once to pay off a loan. Was a bit scary walking around with it on us, but we just went instantly.
#13
gonna have to get him to go with you and draw it out

I would try to get £50 notes and then it would be less to carry.

Can you not trust him with your card to withdraw some money over the next few days and then go with him asap to complete?

i would but he works himself and has a family to look after, i dont think he would have the time to be honest. even so you can only get £200 out the cash machine which when he needs 8100 seems a bit pointless really

Why does your brother need the money so soon?
#25
CHAPS is same day transfer and used by solicitors to complete on house purchases. So if it sent tomorrow he will recive it tomorrow cleared funds.

Withdraw up to £200 a day if you’re a Cash Account customer, £300 if you’re a Classic, Select or Silver customer or £500 if you’re a Gold, Platinum or Premier customer at a Lloyds TSB Cashpoint® or other ATMs*.

Have I got this right?
You wanted a fast transfer but the bank said they couldn't do it, but they could do CHAPS which you are now saying they told you would be two hours.
So why the thread? :?

i was wondering if there is another way? one that might save me £30 and a trip to the bank between nightshifts
#35
Jumpingphil
Wouldn't the bank have told you while you were on the phone? :?

obviously not lol

You [B]can[B] make faster payments from Lloyds to HBOS although the reason that lloyds are advsing it cannot be done for this payment is due to the value of the payment, they will have a limit as to what can be transferred through FPS The answer is to split the payment into smaller amounts which will go through FPS, however my advise would be to make all the payments for different amounts which total the sum you need to send. Ring Lloyds and talk to them about doing it this way as it can be done - and at any time of the day with the funds typically ceared in the recipients account within the hour. Whats to stop you making multiple one off payments though? do it at different times of the day online and it will go through automatically. The only thing you need to find out is what their limit is for a single immediate payment.
