I am looking for some advice from you lovely and knowing ppl!

We have a sony ericsson k800i on 3...... which is rubbish, but only the connectivity. Having come to the virtual end of the current contract we have looked on the various network maps to try and find the best coverage for our post code. However when I spoke with the man at '3' he said as a network if you can't get a signal with 3 they use o2 and vodafone network to connect calls.

Does anyone out there know if this is true, or if there was indeed a prob with this phone dropping calls. The man at '3' said it was a common fault and yet I have never heard of it!

Your comments would be greatly recevied. :-)

I thought they used Orange for their 2g calls, but he sounds correct

It's the 3 network coverage, not the phone. They are trying to keep you. The network coverage is poor and only passable in densely populated areas. They keep cutting out.

If it's about coverage, then you want one of the other networks.
If it's the package, some of 3's package are hard to beat for the talk and text/video options.

Thanks, maybe he said Orange..... Def said o2 as that is the network I was considering. Sadly the place it is mostly used has terrible coverage and can be frustrating. Do not want to sign up again for 18 months if the flipping thing will not connect. :x

Coverage is more important. There would be no use in having a phone with loads of minutes you can't use....... Think o2 is the best for the area, so will prob go with them.

Also if 3 goes "roaming" on other networks and you are the one making the call I think it doesn't come out of your bundle......You will have to pay extra I think. You might be ok for receiving the call though

I have to say that I have had no problems with 3. I have been with them for just over a year and have found them to have better coverage than some other mobile companies.

3 use vodafone for their 2g stuff, their 3g coverage is pretty poor but I've never been in a position where I can't make a call as you have the combination o f both...having said that, leave 3, they have disgraceful customer service and are completely incompetent.

BTW you only drop calls when you lose the 3g signals and switch to vodafone, you can disable the 3g connection though if you don't need it so this won't happen and no you don't get charged out of bundle for calls on 2g

Thanks that is good. Personally I love three.... I have tried Orange and 02 and they are fairly bad where I live. Three seems ok and as I love 3g and hsdpa I will stick to them. Also I travel often to Italy and as there is 3 there too they don't charge me for roaming if on that network.
