Never pay your insurance renewal

paul.jacobspaul.jacobs

Got my Aviva car insurance renewal the other day asking for £240.

Did all the comparison websites and ended up taking out another policy with Aviva at the cost of £213 for exactly the same policy as before (slightly better infact with a lower excess), not to mention the £80.80 from topcashback (not guaranteed as I am not a new customer, did the same last year and it worked). Fingers crossed will pay £132 after cashback - over £100 cheaper!!!!

As the title says, Never pay a renewal, without spending an hour requoting.

The same certainly applies to house insurance; I saved around £250 last year and the year before by arranging new insurance; silly thing is each time I took out a new policy with Direct Line. If you query their inflated "loyal sucker" prices they'll knock less than 10% off; but will allow you to take out a 'new customer' policy.

Make certain that no " auto-renewal " is in place with any insurance.

Yes - otherwise you'd not be able to take it with you to a new provider at the end of the year.

I had mine with Swift, just had my renewal through, an extra £20 A MONTH, nothing has changed.
Needless to say its been cancelled, and they asked why? oO
With regards to comparison, I did that with natwest and my house insurance, had a renewal price. Did a fresh quote and it was hundreds of pounds cheaper!!!
    Shouldn't be allowed.

Got my renewal, checked around and none were that cheap.

Rang up and suggested I was looking around and they knocked £50 off as a loyalty discount. X)
