Hi,

I am about to upgrade from an 8 year old Panasonic MiniDV camcoreder, and have been looking around. I think I want to go for a Hard Drive model, but do i need a HD model, will I notice a big difference (There is a big difference in price!!) Or i am better off going for an SD Card model?

Any views, tips or points in the right direction greatly appreciated!!

Regards

The HD camcorder we have at home really isnt that great, it was quite pricey too, ive seen some that are great though.

Mine is a panasonic.

It really does depend, best thing to do is search for some reviews.

I have an SD camcorder - Panasonic one - cost about £140 - picture is dvd quality which is good enough for me given I ain't making a motion picture and just want some memories of my kid growing up.

Plus the fact I don't have to mess about re-encoding the clips - which for some HD content can take for ages.

A HDD camcorder is really useful since you have a large storage space and don't have to worry about carrying and swapping mini DVs or SD cards.
