New Car Advice

Hi all, need some advice in buying a new car.. I have just got a new job and after owning 4 cars that were all 10 years old or older I have decided I want to get a brand new one...

At the moment Im looking at a Kia Rio
http://www.kia.co.uk/New-Cars/Range/Compact/Rio/Pricing/Price-Option.aspx

With the 'Kia' Scrappage scheme the basic model can be bought for £6000
This comes with a 7 year warranty (which is 7 years on pretty much everything!)

Can anyone suggest anything else...? Or incourage me or put me off?? 6-7k is pretty much my budget.. I realise that wont get me alot of new car :)

Cheers :)

Better of going for a german or japanese car i.e honda civc, vw golf mk5 with that sort of money. Wont be brand new but certainly better than a kia!

its the 7 year warrenty that interests me.. pretty much dont have to worry about paying for repairs etc etc... do any other car companies offer that long?

They made a vital mistake but usually toyotas are spot on! , tell me how many Toyotas you see in the UK in the hard shoulder lane.

Honda have the same mistake in America at the moment too

Seems all car makers are loosing their rep these days and the new boys are gaining ground fast

From experience I wouldnt go for a kia rio our daughter in law has had nothing but trouble from the car since they bought theirs just 4 months ago.
From the windscreen wipers that just stopped working, dealership took 3 days to fix this problem and at first wouldnt even given them a courtesy car.......apparently its a well known fault with the rio!!
to the boot door jamming,(again they had the car for 3 days and again wanted them to pay for the courtesy car and insurance!!)
The dealership saying that its a budget car what do you expect!!!

They have just got their car back again now after it had to go in and have a new dash panel put in after the dealership scratched all the panel when they were supposed to be fitting electric windows............oh yeah and they turned off the air bags and never turned them back on again after wards!!
Did I also mention the plastic interior scratchers really really easily too!!

I have a Kia Rio 1.5dci Strike on order.

It cost £9700 with all the trimmings :)

I was lucky that I got my order in just before scrappage ended so my old Cordoba will be binned for £2k

Take one for a drive and you will be impressed

Its a great size car with a lot of punch for a diesel.

Only one more week to wait :)

The Scrappage Scheme is over, so your looking at £7600+ now

It has been extended
''On 4 February 2010 the government announced that an extra month has been added to the deadline for the government scrappage scheme to help manufacturers and dealers prepare for and operate the final stage of the scheme.
Subject to agreement by manufacturers (consumers should check with dealers that the relevant manufacturer has agreed) the scheme will now run until the end of March or until the money runs out, whichever is sooner.''

So why don't you reject it as not fit for purpose and demand another or full refund? You are entitled to do that. And if it is That bad..............what are you waiting on?
