new car stereo iso connector question

Ive just put in a new head unit into my corsa using the iso conector and it all works fine but when the key is taken out and put back in the thing resets so you lose all your presets and more importantly where you were on the cd.
Ive gathered that I need to switch the yellow and red wires around (+12v memory and +12v ignition) so that it remembers stuff. Or I could connect them both to where the +12v memory one goes so that it can be used even when the ignition isnt on.
But now for my question, I know its a bit stupid but whats the best way to switch these wires? can you just pull out the wires from the iso box and switch them or do I need to cut them and solder? or use a connector?
Ive tried pulling them gent;ly but they dont want to come out so im guessing i need to do something else?
thanks

just cut the wires with side cutters and reconnect them with crimp terminals or solder them.
yes you could put them both to positive , but you would need to remember to swith the head unit off yourself or you would flatten the battery.

yes ill probabbly just solder them then, thanks for the quick reply, now whether or not to connect them together... hmmm i think ill leave it with the ignition controlling it.

Can't you just nip into a halfords to buy the appropriate harness adapter?

bullet connectors are used on a lot of units so people can do just this but looks like you were unlucky, just cut and crimp some bullets on yourself easy to do and looks neat :)
