I just got my new Samsung D600 form Coolnewmobile. I popped in the SIM, charged it up and powered it on and it says "Insert SIM". Is this normal if I haven't yet been activated?

Thanks

That's not normal. Has the SIM been successfully used in another phone?
#2
Have you inserted the sim in the right way? :?
#3
Did the sim come with the phone?? If not, is it the right network?
#4
It came with the phone as it's a new contract. Yes, the shiny side is downwards onto the contact :)

Unfortunately, i'd say it's knackered then. :(
#6
The phone or the sim?
[mod]#7
Could be either, but more likely the sim card i reckon.
#8
does it not need activated? just a thought
#9
Try someone elses sim card (same network) in the phone

No, the phone would still go through the motions of reading the SIM but just have no signal.

Duff sim. I put in my old Orange sim and it worked straight away. This has been a blessing in disguise becasue this means the phone is unlocked:) I will contact the company about getting a new one sent out. Thanks guys.
