sounds as though you may have two recording?
Check your planner to see.

You must be trying to record 2 channels and watch a 3rd I think. Go to tvguide/planner (press tv guide then green button) and scrap all recordings and start again from scratch.

Check if you have 2 singals going into the box, sounds like you only have one & can therefore only watch/record one channel.

I get this on & off, only way to get back two singals is to turn the box off on the wall I'm afraid.

Do you have a twin feed installed, That's two cables into the box, from the dish. If not you can only record and watch the same channel.
Did Sky install, or done it yourself.

yep, I've had it loads of times, it's somehow loses the 2nd input signal, I can tell by going into the settings & checking the signal strength, nothing on the bottom one, top one show stregth as it would normally

sky installed it, i think i may have tried to record a program and a series of programs at the same time

I only have 1 input from the dish
bacisally got 1 cable from dish to box
scart from box to tv and....
hdmi cable from box to tv

the box is a sky+hd box should i still have 2 cables coming from the dish to the box?

Might want to get onto sky and ask why you only have one cable lol

also you don't need a SCART and HDMI connection, one or the other I would advise you use the HDMI though .

you should have 1 cable through the wall but it then splits into 2 where it connects to your box

Look at the cable coming in. It should be two cables side by side looking more like one cable.
If this is correct for you, then cancell all recordings via your planner, then start again.

Thomson box?

If you press Services and then Settings - Signal.

You will see the Signal Strength for the feeds from the dish. You should have something similar for Input 1 and Input 2.

Definitely only 1 cable because i can see the input 2 on the back of the box and there is no cable in input 2
so no chance of me being able to record 1 channel and watch another at the same time?
ill be in touch with sky and see what they playing at!

You can record one channel and watch something you've already recorded if you fancy that till you get it sorted.

You taken out the SCART lead yet?

I have emailed sky about this issue and see what happens
No i havnt taken the scart out i didnt know weather it was needed? obviously not??

uve had a muppet install ur sky for you
#18
Personally I would phone sky and not email, you need 2 inputs for sky + HD to work, and by the sounds of it, as said above you have had a muppet install it for you!! Are you sure the cable is not one cable, but a twin cable (where they are stuck to each other?)

Give them a call anyway and they should be able to talk you through checking the signal, then send out another muppet to fix it for you.

I used to have a sky + box which was fitted by an engineer and had not problem recording one programme whilst watching another but since changed to a hd box which I had to install myself I have to watch the channel I'm recording!! I've noticed that I have only 1 feed into the back of the box as well!!

The Sky+ box would have needed 2 feeds too so the other one is probably lying on the floor behind your tv still.

All Sky + and Sky HD Receivers require 2 feeds from the dish to function properly, sounds like a Sky employee installed the dish.
