NEW Smaller XBOX 360 Mini coming?

Special people have found a new Xbox 360 Motherboard.
Gone are the fans on the back, and it is much smaller than the current 360 board...

See pics.. and Linky.

The combination of the two GPU/CPU is thought to have been made possible by a die shrink, presumably to 45nm.

Thought to be codenamed Valhalla, the chipset appears to be a drastic redesign from current Xbox 360 boards. The Valhalla PCB (printed circuit board) appears to be smaller than all previous iterations, and a shuffle of I/O port positioning suggests that the board will surface in a new Xbox 360 chassis.

It could just as easily be an early prototype - or even a fake - but speculation regarding the fabled Xbox 360 Slim is now likely to pick up pace.

Judging by the image, it seems Microsoft's process shrink could pave the way for multiple developments. We could see a smaller, trimmed-down Xbox 360 console ala the PlayStation 3 Slim, or we could see Microsoft retain its current chassis and squeeze external components into its existing design - the power supply comes to mind.

Looking ahead, the introduction of a new Xbox 360 model could be timed to debut alongside Project Natal late in 2010. Conjecturing somewhat, could Microsoft be developing a console with Natal built in? It isn't outside the realms of possibility, we reckon.

You can get a better idea of the size by looking at the four holes for the DVD rom drive.. So not quite as wide as two drives.

I would prefer an xbox360 quiet than an xbox360 slim

:)

Might have something to do with the Natal console they have been hinting at?

old news to me knew this a while ago anyways still a rumor not fact

How they cooling the GPU? Surely this is going to run hot. Though I'm liking the heatsink, might make other companies bring out better ones.

this is most probably a fake

Smaller 360 would probably equal to more RROD's due to decreased air ventilation.

Same crap just smaller?

Anyway looks fake, why does it have 2 sata ports and loads of empty headers and a cooler master heatsink and way to many external sockets? It's obviously just an intel atom mini pc mobo.

Its not.. lol

2 sata ports as the xbox has two sata devices.
HDD
CDROM

Same hana chip

MS chips, the vertical/horizontal sensor, power block is the same.

It is not a fake, but will have to wait and see which box it appears in...

It ain't a fake. Just still doesn't add up two sata drives unless there thinking of new tech?

TWO SATA PORTS....

DVDROM
HDD

Simples...

The current has two sata ports?? :w00t:
One standard on the board for DVDROM
The other as a connector for the external HDD.
This box is obviously going to have a HDD built in??

didn't steve balmer or similar already confirm the existance of diferent form factors for the 360.
#12
lets just hope it doesnt increase RROD and it sells for a reasonable price unlike the elite.

Yeh thats my point. One is an external one, but this means the hard drive will be under the dvd rom.

If the HDD is built in I won't be buying it

probably one of the reasons MS are looking for a Motherboard Design Engineer

Rumours are hinting at a possible pc type xbox, that doubles as a lite-pc, hence the onboard HDD, also talk of DVR functions
