Got new windows & 1 door popped in Friday that has just passed and since they couldn't fit the 2nd door (which we were told we would get it done all in one day) we are getting the front door fitted Monday morning!!

Was slightly annoyed at this fact as would mean more time off work but thankfully my boss said i could take the morning off and so did my boyfriends but i feel thats not the point in a sense as we weren't getting what we paid for (chq not handed over yet) and were told about.

Boyfriends Dad works for Barratts and he came round obviously to have a wee look over them and noticed a few things which will needed to be . So we thought no problem can mention it to the guys in the morning . But tonight the boyfriend decides to go back around them and he noticed things like scratches to the pvc frames, scuff marks on them and 2 scratches on windows along with a few minor bits. Would it be petty to mention these also to the guy? Even though some are minor little things, that will probably grate on me over time but my thought is when you spend a few grand on new windows/doors you expect them to be perfect. Am i wrong?

Dont refuse to pay unless the job is really bad-keep a % back for snagging if you can still see faults when they have finished. As far as the job taking longer-it happens. It isnt convenient for you or them.

I think you need to remove the company name unless you want a potential lawsuit. If I was the trader and spotted this then I wouldnt be around this morning!

They went round with us and asked if there was anything we werent happy with after installation ..

we had a nightmare getting the doors and windows fitted , Bathroom window diddnt fit . Front door glass was slightly off angle , pointed out and said I know its only a tiny bit out , but over time It will annoy me SO much as it looks like when a picture is slightly off kilter . they got it replaced the same day
Anyway went round with them and passed it all ok .....

We went back (1 1/2 yrs later to tell them the locks were loosening slightly . The guy sent a couple of lads out , they fixed the locks for us , put bigger screws in . Then when i mentioned I could feel a bit of a draught they went and got thicker Draught excluder pulled the old off the 2 doors and put the new thicker stuff on .....

Must admit although we had all these probs , I couldnt fault the crew and subsequent guys . Or the owner of the company ...

Read up on Fensa as Im not too sure about the regs but sure you are covered

strange, i would tell them. my old man runs a FENSA registered double glazing company and said that windows with scrathces on them wouldnt pass QC so wouldnt go out. Then again, they do manufacture as well so its less hassle for them.
