£349.99

http://www.hotukdeals.com/images/gotodeal.gif Although not exactly a deal, more of a heads up

This new 360 isn't available yet, but will be hitting USA store's on Arpril 29th so won't be long before we get our hands on them. This will put a stop to all those rumours about this not being true.....it is confirmed and very true

Microsoft Unveils Xbox 360 Elite

Xbox 360 Elite has enough space for a library of Xbox Live Arcade games and thousands of songs, as well as downloadable high-definition TV shows and movies available on Xbox Live Marketplace. The new 120GB hard drive also will be sold as a stand-alone accessory to give current Xbox 360 owners greater choice and flexibility in their games and entertainment experience.

Speculation over! .... just means the end of the core console, and a reduction in the "premium" pack!
#3
Hopefully this will lead to a collapse in the price of the current model - I don't have a HD telly and a current core will do me fine...
#4
I think £350 is too much it should be £300. I was under the assumption that this would replace the premium. Its irritating that they always charge more over here. the US version is $479 which works out at around £250
#5
Not a deal - Its news...

Section changed now :)
#6
The one good thing about it being black is that I could replace the original xbox and the wife wouldn't even notice!!!

Not a deal - Spam.

It does say this is more of a heads up than a deal, but as someone said above they can't release this and not drop the price of there current 360's so infact this is a deal for anyone who is in the market for a 360.

They can hold out and get a upgraded 360, or hold out and get a cheaper 360

No doubt the PS3 fanboys will attact this thread
#8
360 Prem's will drop, this is 2 exspensive but looks great and has fantastic hdd capacity
#9
I think I prefer the white console :whistling: the black just reminds me of the original xbox....which kind of looks like a step back!

The spec's do look great tho!

Speculation over! .... just means the end of the core console, and a reduction in the "premium" pack!

I believe that the core will still remain available. I have read reports of the 360 being available in 3 SKU’s. The Core, the Premium and the Elite.

I think it’s good that MS are offering another option to their customers, from the very basic package at approx. £180, allowing the customer to simply play games, all the way up to the high-end Elite. ‘Option’ is the key word here, MS offer many different variations of the 360 package to their customers while Sony have taken the decision to only offer the most expensive package – that’s not a criticism, just an observation.

I think it's only people who want to use their console as a more complete unit and media hub (ie. play games in high-definition, watch the very best quality films (Blu-ray or HD-DVD), listen to music, view images, etc.) who really have to decide between the PS3 and the 360 Elite (plus HD-DVD player) and there’s not really much between them at the moment. For example, maybe the PS3 is a better all-round media centre and more future-proof, but the 360 offers an established and successful online service and a larger catalogue of games. Only YOU can decide - he said trying to stave off the inevitable 360 vs PS3 debate!

For me, I only want to play games on my console so the 360 Premium pack is perfect for me, and I appreciate that MS offer that as an ‘option’ rather that only offering the most expensive choice to me.

Don’t get me wrong, when the PS3 is cheaper, much more established (I’m still yet to be convinced that their online service will be totally ‘free’ – maybe they’ll cover the cost via micro-transactions? Intrusive advertising? Subscriptions to play individual developers software online? Let’s wait and see!) and has games that interest me (there are none until Assassin’s Creed which could well be better on the 360?!) I’ll be getting one.

I dont think thats how it works.

I wouldn't consider this spam, i would actually deem it as pretty big news, as there's been a lot of speculation for quite a few months stating the new updated xbox 360 would resolve the previous consoles heating problems as well as include a 120gb harddrive and a hddvd drive for the same price as the premium (£279.99).

We obviously don't know if the heating problems has been resolved, which caused Microsoft to lose millions in replacing angry customers consoles (we're on our seventh xbox 360) but they'll always try and keep it under wraps as to how bad this problem was.

It was inevitable that an improved version would be released, despite many people believing this to be false, as the console had too many faults, which not only was tarnishing Microsofts reputation (they even appeared on BBC1's Watchdog for the consoles problems and the backlog in replacements and the timescales to resolve the situations).

I am a little disappointed with the pricepoint though and was hoping if it was at this price, it would include the HDdvd drive, which was a bit optimistic considering the extended harddrive and HDdvd drive is almost the same price of the console itself.

No doubt, the forums will now be filled with ridiculously cheap offers of the current premium packs with huge bundles in order to clear any unwanted stock.
#15
Its still the same processor inside so not really an improvement on reliability!
#16
No doubt we'll shortly see Sony fanboys tracking back and saying "but the xbox 360 elite is too expensive, the PS3 also includes Blue-ray player and i don't need 120gb harddrive, so the 60gb is more than enough for me and this proves the PS3 is great value."
#17
A games console for the HD download market which starts later in the year, good news and a nice alternative to HD disks.
I've been a big Xbox 360 since it's launch and will be definitely picking up the larger 120HD (with free transfer cable - to port my save games and stuff across), should be able to order from the states in April without any compatibilty problems.

Microsoft are obviously seeing their Live Video Marketplace downloads as a good Hi Def source for Movies and TV.

I dont think thats how it works.

how does it work then?! its not like the OP is gaining any refferral from this...he's just trying to let people know about big news regarding the console

Can i buy it? No! Ok so can i pre-order it? No! Is it even linked to a shop? No!

Then how is it a "Deal"?

Its been moved now. So Lets get back on topic...

are you making a mountain out of a molehill? yes!
#21
well ur drawing it out of me, i was making a little mound until you came along.

realfriendlyman
and was hoping if it was at this price, it would include the HDdvd drive

I believe the HD-DVD drive doesn't run fast enough to run games so it was never an option of being built into the Elite unless it was improved. (Plus this leaves MS the option of not putting all their eggs in the HD-DVD basket! :whistling:)

lets close this arguement, between gary-rip and the_idlewilder, the topic wasn't a specific deal to order, so the deals section was the wrong place to release this news but i am glad he did announce it there, as it made me and surely many others realise the news a lot sooner than if it was elsewhere on the forums.

Now that this has been established and the situation has already been handled, i suggest this matter be dropped and we all appreciate that both of you had valid points.

I'm sure it'll have better positioned cooling fans and whatever else necessary to handle the heating problem has been resolved, as Microsoft would be stupid to release a newer version with the identical problems once again.

Microsoft lost out on £1,000,000's in each territory because of this problem and in order to save some money, they resulted in moving the customercare section from the UK, to Estonia and other cheap labour countries, which half the time doesn't understand the problem you're experiencing and ends up fobbing off the customer.
#25
This isnt a deal, there isnt even a UK release date.

A deal would be when the RRP is £350, and somone finds it for £330 and is ready to purchase IN THE UK.

im not a ps3 'fanboy' (whatever that is lol) but how come people aren't going crazy and saying "£349 for a games console? i dont think so".

anyway im more than happy with my white 360.
#32
Probally because you will have the option of buying a cheaper 360 if you don't want all thats included in the Elite package, i can see the premium pack having a drop in the price and a drop in price of the core packs to sell any stock thats left as i hear the core will be ended.

So you will have 3 different priced 360's to suit anyneed & any price bracket, how many PS3's can we choose from ? erm 1

I regret posting the song now, after singing it whilst posting thats all I have been doing all day.

I never knew I had such a great scottish accent.

I also thought the "give every penny to you" was very fitting.
