Saks discount store 'Off 5th' and Nordstrom's version, the 'Rack' stores are probably a good place to try, there are a few in NY. I know Americans who swear by these places and I regularly get jealous at what they find in them!

Woodbury common in New York... its a litlle village of outlets. I went there and it was amazing!!! Levis for $40, Timberlands for $40. I suggest that when you go there you take your suitcase!

Heres the website, i think it has directions on how to get there... it's on the outskirts of New York.

Century 21 is like TKMaxx on a bad day.....:o

If you get to Queens, go to the Queens Centre mall, it's huge and you can get amazing bargains, thats where I stock up on my sports gear as shopping out of Manhattan is a lot cheaper

Or get the red line bus over to Jersey, less tax and even more bargains. I really only know Englewood as thats where some of my family live

I'll be out there next month

If you go in Macy's, get the International savings pass and you'll get 11% off everything instore.

Century 21 I thought was grim, but you can spot some bargains if you can be bothered looking through the rail upon rail of random clothes

Can't beat the chilli dogs!

If you want a laugh, head down to Chinatown, Canal St. Obviously fakes everywhere but the most random set up for shops- you go in the main shops and look around, then the shop keepers will hustle you into underground cellars through hidden doors in the back walls of the shop. Theyve got knock off gucci, D&G etc. You can barter with them if you want to buy any of it. I wouldn't go on my own though tbh, bit scary!

Oh... my cousin took us in a car, we planned to go back by train but ran out of time. We were told it was quite straight forward though.
