Hi All,

I found this thread a while ago and saved it to my favourites:

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/426357/astraweb-180gb-allowance-with-no-su/

I signed on Saturday and downloaded a film, however when it had completed I couldnt extract the files? I downloaded a TV episode to see if I was doing something wrong and that worked fine. Could it be that the file I downloaded was corrupt? I am very new to this newsgroup thing!

If its any help I signed up to NZBrus! I think and it was Pa*l Bla*t - Mall Cop i was trying to get hold off..

Should i be using a different NZB site, dfor better quality files? someone suggested nzbmatrix or newzbin but i would have to be invited by a member.

Did you use quick par to test the download (if you had a PAR2 file that is) also winrar or winzip will extract the file

This bit is over my head I read something about PAR before adding this thread but didnt fully understand it, Can you test the file before downloading or something?
#3
no not before downloading it - but if it's broken the par2 files can repair the file.

you can join nzbmatrix without an invite - I'm on there - you just need to make a one off donation of around $10 for some of the extra features and extra forum areas.

Try a couple more new things and if they all work OK it's likely that the one that didn't work just had missing parts and needed to be repaired.

I use something called quickPAR to do the repairs which is all automatic once you have the files - anything on nzbmatrix will have the par files included if they are needed then you just double click on one of them after download.

worto.

It sounds like you have either an incomplete file set , or something within is corrected.

You need to download the par files (and run smart par or similar), check the parity off the files and rebuild them. Doesn't take long to do - and saves a complete wasted download in one small file out of the complete file set is knackered.

Where would you download the PAR files from? sorry proably really silly question.

I just thought the file that i clicked on download all the parts i needed?

Are you using altbinz? If so look at the download queue they will probably be there but paused, just unpause them to get them - ie. expand the download name then right click and select unpause. Sometimes though uploaders dont include the par files, where did you get the download from and what was it called? (maybe best sending via PM)

Nothing complicated about it.

Just install the download.

Look at the files youve downloaded and search for ones labelled .par

Double click on one of them,

This checks the integrity of the rar files.

Once complete, it will tell you either

(a) files complete and ready to join (ie run winrar)
(b) Files are damaged, but ready to repair (and click on repair)
(c) Files missing or too much corrruption.... more par files needed (so you will need to find more par files) - Depending on the software used, some deliberately dont download - you need to tell it to D/L - eg Altbinz.

Thanks Guv! I will give it ago tonight.

Do you use or suggest a particular Neswgroup over any other???

Which are the best ones to include the PAR files automatically?

Are the files in the film .rar, r00, r01 etc or something else? May just need joining.
