Hi there I use www.binsearch.info to search for binaries and use grabit - www.shemes.com to batch and download. You'll need winrar to unrar most files but apart from that you should be good to go.

Unfortunately it is $35 so would prefer to use a free one, just need to know what i have to configure on alt.binz in order to start being able to download

I think if you log in to Astraweb -

https://helpdesk.astraweb.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=view&parentcategoryid=1&pcid=0&nav=0

You can get the server properties etc and then transfer these details to alt.binz

Clik the zip file link ,open the zip file, double clik the nzb file and it will add it into the dload queue of your newsbin program.

I paid the one off fee on NZBMatrix to be able to download items that were older than "x" days old.

I click the Download NZB button, then save it to my PC, and then double click the saved .nzb file which will then load it onto Alt.binz. If you have it all configured, then click connect on Alt.binz.

It depends how much you need, I can easily download 15 -20 GB per day on occasion.
#19
I am only getting speeds of around 115kb/s, is this normal?

Sometimes I get 115, then for no apparent reason, it jumps to 250.

Although downloading 360 games that are nearly 8gb, 5gb would be rather annoying
#23
i usually get between 700-850kB/s,and in the past 3 days ive downloaded 61gb

(ive learned not to download at peak times lol)
#24
Aaahhh I see, I would probably do as much if I had a 360!!

lol 61Gb! where do you store it all, or dont you often download that much?
ahh so its normal for people to get slow speeds at this time and i might get up to 700kbs later on, as if not it'll be pretty dissapointing around the speed of torrents,
#26
Have you done it yet or still need help? I did it easily enough with a guide that was on the wiki page for alt.binz I think.

What "next file"?

If you mean that you have multiple downloads, then "yes" it will download in order, or you can change the order.

Errrm don't quite get what you're saying, but i mean next file in the list will start downloading automatically after one has completed

Yes.... Its in a queue. The only ones that wont (unless you tell it to) are the paused files - which are usually par files.)

i prefer grabit than altbinz its just is a lot easier to use imo

I used to use Grabbit and Newsleecher.

Cant fathom how you can think Grabbit is easier to use than altbinz! Great piece of kit that cant be easier to use!
#38
I'm a Grabit fan and using GigaNews it allows 10 batches at a time. During peek times I get about 350kb/s, I prefer to batch files and download early morning wher it can jump to 450/500kb/s.

ALEXSHEFF92 if you're with BT and you're not sure what package you are on check it out - if you are on a monthly limit you could find you are paying a lot extra going over that limit by downloading binaries.
#39
I swapped from giganews (which is great) to astraweb which is way cheaper. Newsleecher is excellent as a search program ($29.99 a year).
#40
be careful with these newsgroups as they will instantly grass/dob you into the authorities if you are downloading illegal material especially the ones that have all your personal details......there have been a number of cases recently especially rapidshare
