NHS urges ministers to ban smoking in private vehicles
Welsh Government are already reviewing this, England and Scotland are unwilling at the moment
Where do you stand on this, i don't smoke myself but how on earth can you tell others what to do in their own cars making it illegal
They are trying to ban smoking in cars while you have your kids with you, that's fair enough, parents shouldn't need this to be law to stop in my opinion. So are the NHS going over the top and trying to stop everybody?

They shouldn't have banned smoking in all pubs and bars and they certainly shouldn't try and ban it in people's cars.
I do remember when a friend of mine used to smoke. She used to pay too much attention to her ciggie and not enough to driving. Maybe there could be a just controls on the driver smoking while driving. But sometimes the atmosphere can get a bit oppressive for non smokers if the windows are closed.
That can't all be put on smoking, but it probably had some effect. My view is they should have let licence holders choose and let the market decide. If people really didn't want smoking in bars then the smoking ones would have suffered.
They will soon
As for not smoking while amongst kids.. Thats common sense, but if this was to pass i can see alot more stop offs at service stations, dual carriage ways and car parks for a smoke, great :(
But a total ban is nonsense
Should let a lower rate of pay to compensate
Plugs ears so not to hear the abuse :D
Petrol and diesel fumes are more harmful to peoples health, They should just ban cars, Power stations, Fat people and immigrants.
But a total ban is nonsense
That's the point. My dad smoked but never around me or in the car.
If a parent is smoking in the car with their kid, then there's bigger problems there than just smoking and quite frankly, they wouldn't be the group least likely to take much notice of a ban.

The governement rely on tax from smokers as a huge resource. They want us to smoke (to generate money) but then want to punish us for doing so.
Wales is part of the UK, not sure what you mean here.
Its called driving with due care, attention and being responsible. Unless you wish to inform the parents of the child you kill with your car just because you wanted to puff on your ciggy instead of watch where you're driving.

Agree with you there. Spot on.

If we are going to go this route then they are going to have to ban everything done with one hand. i.e. having a drink, eating a sweet, scratching your nose. etc.
Ban on smoking in cars I imagine would also mean if you were parked up with the engine off, so your arguement of driving without due care isn't really holding much water.
