Nintendo DS Games from America

Can anyone tell me for sure if there is any difference between DS games bought in the States to DS games bought here in old Blighty? My hubby is off to the America on business in a few weeks and I want to know whether to give him a list of stuff to bring back! DS games there seem to be the same price in dollar$ as they are in pound£ and with the exchange rate being what it is, I'd be daft not to.
But just want to check that they will work here, with no significant differences.
Thanks. :)

I ordered some games from thegamecollection.net and they sent US versions which work fine on the UK DS. The DS/games is not regioned. The only difference I noticed is the box is black and slimmer than the UK games, and obviously the cartridge has USA on instead of EUR.

I'm going to America in a few weeks and hope to find some DS bargains too! :)

Thanks for quick reply. Do you know which shops are best for buying DS games? (Don't think it would work too well trying to get Amazon.com to deliver to a hotel!!).

No idea really. I've only had my DS a couple of weeks and only have the games that I got with it and the one I ordered online. I've never shopped for games in another country so hopefully someone else will be able to help us both out with some shop names.

You have to be careful, although it seems like DS games are region free it's not always the case - while any region of game will play on any DS there can be issues with multiplayer. Some US copies will not work with UK games if you want to do wireless multiplayer.

However if the most case you should be fine, I haven't bought any in the US but normally order my games from Movietyme - I'd much rather pay 16 quid for a game than 25.

Thanks John. Multiplayer not a problem for me - I'm a miserable so-and-so who likes to play all by myself when I have some time to myself. :)

Ive bought quite a few games from the states and never had any problems, also played a few Japanese versions with any issues either.

Have also been able to play multi player on them, all though the Japanese versions took a while to figure out which options to take lol

The only difference ive found between US and UK editions is as others have mentioned the case being slightly different.

It's not standard that multiplayer doesn't work, some do some don't - found out the hard way :(

By the way if you like puzzle games I highly recommend Planet Puzzle League - very old puzzle game but works extremely well for the touch screen on the DS. It and Elite Beat Agents are my recent US purchases.

The only problem you might have is a few issues with multiplayer games and if you want to go online to play against others, it may not properly work. But one player games or games that you wouldn't want to play against other should be fine, so hopefully you get loads of bargains!

Just to let you know that if you get brain training games in america as you may get confused with one of the tasks (counting change)

the currency used is american coins so i guess that may take getting use to?

Nah, multiplayer should be fine, if it works with a supercard then a real game should work no problem.

the only other difference is that when in wifi mode and you search for regional players, you are searching for players with the same type of cartridge. i.e. USA or EUR

Thanks for all the info, guys. It's going way beyond me now!! All this talk of supercards and wifi and searching for other regional players .... my only experience of multi-users is when my daughters use pictochat with their friends in the next room, or when they send a demo of their game to a ds console in the same room!!
