The one on the top pic is for headphones with extras like remote controls built in.
The ones on the bottom pic iis for a lanyard or wrist strap.

Thanks. Looks like the wriststrap/lanyard one makes sense. It would have to be pretty long though. Wonder why they don't give you a strap considering how much is spent on a DS?

The top one is for the headphones that have a mic in them too (kinda like a handsfree kit); the bottom is for wrist strap, dangler, screen cleaner, etc....

You can't have the wrist strap on whilst playing the DS. Go figure. :?

You did used to get one with the original DS... you got a thumbstrap attachment too. They did away with them for the DS Lites.

Because Nintendo are cruel to us in the UK.

My sister bought her Pink DS from Hong Kong and it came with a white wrist strap with Nintendo DS logo in the middle, it was in between the instruction manuals.
