To those who have not tried these I recommend you do. These are my top three games:
The Legend Of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time
Mario 64 DS (classic)

I'd say Mario Kart is great but it would probably come 4th

If you like puzzles then you'll need to play Professor Layton and the Curious Village.
I love it!
Try the demo on the official site.

Probably mario kart ds for the gameplay - super mario 64ds and the new SM bros are also faves.

I really like the interactive novel games, hotel dusk room 215 - and phoenix wright ace attorney series are great too.

42 All Time Classics is another good one.

I really like the DS and I really like the fact Nintendo repaired it for free out of warranty.

Currently playing Lego Indiana Jones on the DS and I gotta say it's a great title to pick up for your handheld during this current drought of new DS titles. Top marks in every department!

Some of my favourite games include : Mario Kart, New Super Mario Brothers, Picross, Zelda, Wario Ware Touched, Theme Park and Elite Beat Agents :)

find animal crossing addictive and fun to :)

Hotel Dusk Room 215 was def one of the best games I've played on the DS. Got very caught up in the storyline and couldn't put it down. Very much like reading a good adventure (and that's exactly what they wanted to put it across as)

V good stuff

Scrabble is one of my current faves also got Brain Training which I have not used as frequenly as I originally did when I was desperate to bring my age down?? Recently, added few more titles to my collection but might have to check out few more now in light of comments above.

My favourite DS game is one most people here probably won't have heard of.

It's called SLITHERLINK and it's only available as an import from Japan.

It's a traditional Logic game, in the same category as Picross, Sudoku, and other pen-and-paper logic games you find in puzzle books.

Once you get the hang of it, it's as addictive as crack, and it has enough puzzles to keep you going for months/years.

Much as I love Picross (and, to a lesser extent, Sudoku), this is even better IMO.

For further info, check out this review on Eurogamer. I think it's the only DS game they've ever rated a perfect 10/10 :

I played Ace Attorney for the first time the other day and haven't been able to put the damn thing down!

Also, one thats not well known and a bit tricky to begin with is Lost in Blue, fantastic game where you have to survive on an island by doing hunting and gathering etc. Really addictive but also tedious at times :P

Over all the platforms there is no less than 32 games rated 10/10 by Eurogamer.
I think they hand the top scores far to easily.
I can only think of one game that I would consider rating 10/10; TF2 on PC.

Yes, but that's out of the hundreds / thousands of games they've reviewed.
Eurogamer are actually much more restrained and rational than other big review sites (IGN, Gamespot etc.) and tend to review games purely on merit and not on hype.

32 games receiving 10/10 is actually a very small percentage out of all the titles they've reviewed over the years.

Add in the fact that 80-90% of DS games are poor shovel-ware titles (sad but true), it's quite a big deal when one scores 10/10 (and deservedly so IMO).

Maybe there are other DS games that have scored 10/10 on this site that I'm not aware of.
Feel free to post links to these if that's the case.

Edit - I noticed they also gave Bangai-O Spirits 10/10 (another superb Jap game that I imported).
I'm pretty sure that's it though....

This is getting OT though. My post was trying to point out a superb puzzle game that many people won't have heard of, and that I think would appeal to fans of Picross / Sudoku etc.
#35
Mario Kart DS or TOuch Darts :)
#36
Will try that slither link game out.
#37
Puzzlequest: Battle for the Warlords. Tremendous game that I have just completed about 10 minutes ago. Sort of a RPG but the battles are like Bejewled instead of normal RPG type fighting. Great fun!!!!

Please do ! It's superb (IF brain-taxing logic games like this appeal to you of course...).
As with many Jap games though, the initial menus can be confusing since they're not in English, so here's a handy translation (this was a god-send for me when I first got the game) :
