Dear Jim'll Fix it,

I have no clue about these things at all, at all.

Can you point in the right direction on which one to buy? R4 / M3/ N5 / DSTT / WTF?
I'm sure dealextreme is the place to get one of these contraptions but there's soo bleedin many on the site!

Yours confussledingly,

leefal.

R4 or DSTT are tip top, I use both and they are great.

AVOID dealextreme, I had lots of porblems.

I used these, a little more expensive but faster delivery and better service if things go wrong

Please only use for homebrew and not for pirating games.

I've bought off dealextreme before with no hassle, but thanks for the card suggestion - so that's the bees knees?

I know lot of people have used them without problem.

The sign of a good trader is how they deal with you when things go wrong. they sent me 20 whistles instead of 20 DSTT cards earlier this year and I basically got told to whistle (lol can laugh now but was furious at the time).

But as you say, lots of people use them without problem and they are very cheap. I guess it's not a big risk if your only ordering £10-£20 worth of goods from them.

DSTT is the easiest to use, but there are advatages to the R4 (you can read books and watch films with it).
#9
I have an M3 REAL and love it, stuck a 4gig micro SD card in it and can play loads of "homebrew" stuff

Would this suffice? I may as well get one with a memory card right? HOw many games would a 2gig card hold?
#11
2 g will hold about 30-40 games depending on the size of the games,

TTDS Cards can also take SDHC cards whereas R4's can't. This means you could pop a 4gb/6gb/8gbmicro sd card in, however an R4 can only take up to 2gb

I'm about to order one soon as well. Was speaking to thesaint who knows a thing or 2 about these.
He recommended this one http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.5097

Think this is exactly the same but with a memory card http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.2393

The others mentioned are a bit cheaper. The only difference is that these are supposedly more reliable.

Hope that helps

So if I throw this into that, everything should be fine?

I'm guessing so. But don't take my word for it.. Thesaint has one of these so he should be able to tell you if this should work in it

got one of these for a friend and set it up , was easy to set up and even easier to use ideal for a child!

have a r4 myself and this seemed just as good but half the price and can support higher capacity cards.

You can watch movies with the DSTT. You just need to convert your movies to DPG extension and use Homebrew Moonshell.

You have to use MicroSD's guys, not SD Cards.

The link isn't working.

The AceKard is a good card, but there was a dodgy batch floating around.
I had to return mine last week, they have sent another that has a sticker on the packaging that suggests it's from another batch. It has been fine up to now.

Sorry, I haven't heard of that problem. I haven't used a GBA flashcart before. I am relatively new to all this.

In your position, I would copy everything to your computer, re-format the Micro Sd card, and copy back everthing and see if that works.

Yes, that is the exact one I bought for my son's DS.
If you require 4GB, that is the best price available ATM.

2GB is plenty for most people.
For the cheapest prices, check this thread:

thesaint rocks!
