I know right! I'd rather not have one at all

I like the look of the build quality, screen looks nice too. I'd rather have one for handheld emulators instead of using a Windows tablet (Dolphin Wii & PPSSPP work great on Atoms), but I doubt that'll happen.

Huh, I never even thought about roms. That would be amazing! Hopefully someone "hacks" it eventually

No it wasn't - that pic is from the Wii system memory management menu.

I would put it on auction to get the max profit. (and buy another if you still wanted one)

Doubt it's a customer tbh.
Probably got access to one sent to the press.
Good to see more of the Switch Nintendo thinks it doesn't have to 2 weeks from launch anyway

Haven't you been childishly mocking this console since it was announced?

Not sure what the purpose of this thread is.

Of course. But I'm still excited for a new console. The Wii u was a disaster, did I buy one? Yes.

Switch pre ordered from Amazon too. Will it fail? We'll have to wait and see.

I mock it, but I'm also going to try it out. Otherwise I'd just be a fanboy troll!

Games sites would probably pay thousands provided it's a genuine purchased one and not one received with conditions attached.

Watching the video and reading the leaked Dev kit documentation I still remain really worried about how the controllers slide into the console. It seems they element that slides into the rails is only a few mm and entirely made of a soft plastic with no ridges/overhangs to provide additional strength.

Any force you put on the console is going to act on these two points, Not sure how it will cope with years of these sorts of forces acting on them.

Luckily it looks like the rails can be detached easily with a phillips head screwdriver. So even if nintendo doesn't release official replacements someone will.

So it shouldn't be too much of a worry if over time these start to degrade a little over time, just replace them.

I guess only time will tell if the rails are a flaw in the system or not.

Looks nice and all that, but alas the stuff I really want to see, they can't show at the moment. Which is games running and accessing online.

Stuff Nintendo should have shown by now or really need to get a wriggle on and show!

If you thought the Wii U was garbage - a console that failed to sell despite having loads of good games - what makes you think the Switch won't be garbage?

If you think the Wii U is garbage you must simply not like games. Cause there are some great ones on it. Maybe try some board games or jigsaws. They might be more your speed.

Financially it was a flop. That doesn't make it a bad games console. Do you buy a machine for it's financial revenue or to play games?.. Fam.. Ha ha.

The kids enjoyed the Wii and enjoyed the Wii u very much. We must have been lucky with our ones, thought they were nice games consoles.

I am glad it is coming to light that the console is actually better than people first thought and that Fifa isn't the Xbox 360 ps3 port that was expected but a custom built version for the switch which is graphically as good as the PS4 version.

Where did you read that? As in this 3 day old Article it still clearly says it's probably built on the older game engine used for Xbox 360/PS3, after there expert analysis of the video footage of the game!. And not the new 'Frostbite' engine as seen in PS4, Xbox one!

But it's still unclear whether this custom-built version will be based off of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4's Frostbite-built game, or the edition built on EA's older Ignite engine coming to Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3.

Here's the verdict of Digital Foundry's Tom Morgan based upon the above footage:

"Evidence does suggest Frostbite isn't making the cut for the Switch version of FIFA - but that's not to say it looks a world apart from PS4 and Xbox One.
- Digital Foundry

So it's an Xbox 360 game with some extra lighting and blurring effects thrown in courtesy of the Tegra chip no doubt.

How do you manage to read the 'it is unclear whether the Switch version will be based on the newer Xbox One/PS4 engine or the older Xbox 360/PS3 engine' and interpret it as 'it is clearly based on the Xbox 360 version'?

Digital Foundry's Tom Morgan thinks it is, and if you read the article and watch the fifa footage video you can form your own opinion, that is merely my opinion, and I am entitled to one, just as much as the person above ( post #31) boasting its a ps4 quality game and we are all somehow wrong!

Looking at it scientifically, the Nintendo switch whos gpu pulls around 20 watts max power under load, is somehow more powerful than a mains powered PS4 that pulls 150 watts, is it! I think not, you are deluded trying to kid yourselves this machine and its cross platform 3rd party titles will be the same quality on switch as they are on the big consoles, they will be severely watered down versions for switch. Sorry its almost certain, from What we know so far.

Maybe you should read my post again, I said nothing about it looking like the PS4 version or whatever, I was just wondering how can you read a statement that starts with the words 'it is unclear' (which you actually quote to support your point) and then go on to make a statement that apparently 'it is clear'. The article says 'no sign of the improved lighting so far' - i.e. the only thing with which they could differentiate between the 2 engines. & apart from the lighting 'the stadia and players are still close to what we have on PS4 and Xbox One'. I'm not sure why you are so concerned about it but I really couldn't care less about FIFA on any console myself. Please stop getting so enraged about it, tho! :)

Fact is though the Wii U while it didnt sell much wasnt exactly garbage, The vast majority of Wii U games were brilliant.. the Wii U IMO was simply to be thought of as a secondary console to play Nintendo Titles.. as such the Switch I feel will be the same.

Spot on, I've thought of Nintendo consoles as secondary for years (and Nintendo know it themselves by now) Never had a Wii U but I'd like one, just not prepared to spend what I'd need to in order to play all the games I'd want!

The Wii U is like the Dreamcast in a way, great console that just didn't sell well. Certainly not garbage.

The switch's gpu performance closest comparison is the entry level GeForce gt 640 of 2012, that can be bought for about £33 these days! oO,
https://guideimg.alibaba.com/images/shop/86/11/07/5/asus-gt640-2gb-ddr3-memory-graphics-cards_74965.jpg
No doubt it will still be a great platform for Nintendo titles but expect 3rd party devs to drop off the bandwagon pretty quickly, as they will have to do an awful lot of work and optimisation to get the games graphics on this handheld to look anything like current gen big players PS4 and Xbox one.

Buy, it thinking of it as a hand heald continuation of the WiiU, and you will be content, But as a home console you might find yourself envious of your PS4 pro owning friends.

As a replacement for the 3ds I think it's a brilliant handheld, and a big step up, But as a home console it's only a WiiU level console.
