No pain in right thigh when cycling

I'm trying to lose some extra weight I put on after I was involved in a motorobike accident November '07.

I have nerve damage in my right leg (I broke my thigh and crushed my foot) and I suffered from drop foot until I had an operation to correct that (now I can't turn my foot on it's side, but I can move it up and down) ... I cycle every evening but I don't feel pain in my right thigh, is this because of the nerve damage or is my left leg just doing all the work?

Any advice would be apprechiated.

I think cycling is my only option as I can't run at all, I can't walk very far as the bottom of my foot is very sore after 200-300 yards and I can't swim because the chrlorine flares up my eczema.

Seek advice from your GP would be my suggestion. They should know best... Or a physio.

I would have thought my left would be stronger as i've been on crutches a few times and had to hop around on 1 leg a lot.

What other exercies could I do? I'm eating a lot less than normal and drinking plenty of water

Yes i would ask your GP before you go much further. I would be worried that if you continue and can't feel your pain threshold, you may be doing further damage. Your GP will probably reassure you further, but best to be sure.

i would ask the gp about that one mate because you might just not feel the pain cause of the nerve and could be doing damage because you cant feel it your muscle may be sore like when u work out u have to stop for a few day because your muscles are sore cause they are growing but you wont feel that and wont know when to give it a rest

theres machines at the gym that use the motions of swimming,
and others that do stepping up stairs.

Sorry to hear about your accident. I cycle, and us a pedal strap, and cage, it is attached to the pedal(cheaper than SPD) I find them good for pushing the pedal, and when working hard use the strapping to pull up rather than always pushing, it may help. Dont tire them to tight. But cycling I feel is very good for you. I'm doing the Liverpool to Chester and Back on Sunday, for CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) and Asthma UK., Do what you can do. Good luck.
