Fifa , Read dead, F1 etc no major discounts. yes i know that COD will be the BIG one but will there be the same price war of last year that everyone expects this year.

i think the thing with some of the supermarkets especially tesco, they didnt release the information of the price of the game by itself and probably because they knew people would come there from last years price of £25
the people there would queue for hours and probably didnt want to leave empty handed/without fifa in fear of not being able to get it elsewhere and so either stumped up the cash since they were there and had the game in their hand or bought it along with another game to get the reduced price.

yeah it has been pretty disappointing, in fairness though most games do start to drop in price fairly quickly after release, there's only a few that consistently hold their price

they advertised it in the papers the day before it went on sale

didnt tesco only advertised the buy fifa for £25 when bought with a top 10 game and not the price by itself

I would have gone down this route had there been a sainsburys near me.

I don't know the figures, but I would expect the figures for COD to be far higher than FIFA.

COD will be the biggest game this year, guaranteed.

Fifa is the same thing every year bar the number. When Fifa has guns and a prestige feature I'll buy it.

So's COD pretty much X) a 2-3 hour single player mode and then online with half the same maps as before. lol

It will probably be higher but not sure about 'far' higher. Last year, COD (MW2) sold 2.9million and FIFA (2010) 2.2 million: the next highest non-Wii title was Assassinns Creed 2 at under 1 million so it is clear that FIFA and COD are the two (non-Wii) titles that really count.

Red dead wasn't a price war becuase Rockstar made it very clear that they were not to seell it early or to cheaply. And since they had the biggest release ever at the time (GTA IV) i guess the supermarets thought they wouldn't annoy them to ensure future business with them.
Also the price range for fifa 11 was between £25 to £30. If you want the game cheaper on release day then buy a pc as they are cheaper on pc.

I guess "far" is subjective.

Still, According to your figures, COD sold more than 30% more than FIFA, which I would class as "far" higher.

Interesting link, not sure of your point, but I'd love to know how the author thinks the given references back up this claim:
"On June 15, 2010, Activision confirmed that the game had sold over 20 million copies worldwide,[15] making it the best-selling game of all time in the UK [16], and the second best-selling game of all time in the US.[17]"
