I wish there was a device that would allow me to smoke when I sleep - that way I'd wake up calm and relaxed.
#11
Hate it everywhere and anywhere:x

It really stinks, only good for making money for the cigarette companies!

Wish smokers would see that while they wreck their health they're lining the pockets of fat cats who don't give a damn.

Nah, it's good for relaxation, an excuse to leave a dull conversation...loads of stuff.

Pretty sure most smokers know it may potentially wreck their health - only the stupid would deny it.

We is annoying however, are folk like you that vilify and pour scorn on smokers just because it bothers you.

Ok

What is annoying is watching my brother -in-law struggle for every breath with emphysema

Watching my father-in-law die of cancer of the larynx wasn't too much fun either.

Oh, and when other smokers try to kick the habit and end up wanting to kick friends and family because it's got so difficult, that's really **** annoying!!!

You have my sympathies.

My point is that I don't appreciate people looking at me or others smokers in a 'certain way' because they may have experienced similar things to you - I can understand it to a point - but it's not entirely fair to do so. Just like I don't view everyone with a speeding conviction as being a potential murderer.

Studies have shown that it is more difficult to 'kick the habit' than to withdraw from heroin - so it is difficult.

So true - a great way to meet new people too, a put-upon and derided people:-D

A 'no-smoking' day is stupid. I might fancy a smoke and I'm not going to be put off by some campaign.

Hooray, a day without the usual fags on hukd :)

Trust me you have my sympathies also, if you try to quit the habit. I certainly don't look at any group of people in a "certain way".
I do hold the view, however, that smoking has been promoted unscrupulously. I see young kids walking down the street smoking, trying to look "big".

When people claim to understand the health risks I do very much doubt that they believe anything that bad will really happen to them. We have a certain ability to see what we choose to see. The truth can simply be too ugly.

Very heavy stuff for a site such as this, but it really isn't a joke imo.

TBH, I have never seen the big deal of giving up, maybe I am lucky. I used to smoke a fair bit for a while, when I thought, I really don't want to do this, don't want to die young.

That was that, I had the odd slip on a mad night out now I don't touch them. Saying that years on, sometimes if I am really stressed or a special ocassion and had a bit too much I can crave one. But don't give in, I am a bad exsmoker, though, the ones who are usually labelled hypocrytical

haven't smoked now for 2 years, best thing i ever did, went around a mates the other week who still smokes and can't actually belive how much my clothes wreaked of it the next day.

I enjoyed a smoke with a few drinks in a pub but since the smoking ban came in, what't the point, all sent outside to get a quick fix, it's not a social thing anymore
#24
I'll be smoke free for 30 days tomorrow!

Yeah, like chocolate, caffeine and alcohol:whistling:

Seriously though, I think if we're going to ban smoking, we should ban fat people too.

What is wrong with some people on here? The entire first post was comprised of "see link"

That's not a post, it's two words.

Why can't some people spend 2 minutes writing an explanation or their thoughts?
