Nokia N95 8gb- need to back-up data before phone goes for repairs.. need help please!

I have to take an N95 mobile into '3' store for repair as the ring-tone speaker has a fault(still under warranty) but I need to back-up all the phone data etc. So for the first time since having this phone I decided to install the cd-rom to download the drivers.. but.. the cd is not recognised?!

Just been on the Nokia website here: http://www.nokia.co.uk/get-support-and-software/product-support/nokia-n95/software/modem-drivers

..but I can't figure out which wotsit to download.

I use a desktop pc using WINDOWS XP with no infared or bluetooth, so am wanting to connect using the cable that came with the N95 8gb..

Can someone please have a peek at the website link above, or give me an alternative download site that's reliab;e..pretty please?

on my pc, i already have the pc suite from the other phone we have e65 - but it doesnt recognise the n95... the disc itself (that came with the n95) isn't acknowledged by the pc either..

Get the latest version of the Nokia PC Suite and it should pick up the phone then use the backup utility.

I did have an issue when I had to re-flash the firmware of my E61 where I backed up all of my contacts, messages, files etc using the utility but it would only restore the files.

You could uninstall the pc suite from control panel and then try the disc again.

I'm sure when I had an n95 I backed up all my stuff before sending it back without using the pc suite at all.

^ LOL I was going to say that.... lol

In Settings > Connection > USB, Check this is set to PC Suite Mode or "Ask on Connection" is set to "Yes"

Remove PC Suite and download the latest version from Nokias website, dont worry about modem drivers.. You just need PC Suite, once it is fully installed and the PC restarted, run PC Suite connection manager, plug in the USB cable into the handset when it asks you to do so... If it displays a message on the Phone select "PCSuite" NOT Mass Storage or anything else...

The speakers on the phone are relatively easy to change, so they may not replace the phone for you just do a quick speaker change... So you might not need the backup, however obviously its better safe than sorry :)
