Yeah the maps are free. I have it. But, you can find some cheap navigation software, and you can buy it online for cheap. (hint hint)

I'd skip on it altogether. £5 extra a month will buy you unlimited interweb access, and with that, you can use Google Maps. Google Maps is almost a billion times better than Nokia Maps. Not least because with Google Maps, you can see what's on the other side of walls by whipping your phone out, loading up Gmaps, waiting for twenty seconds whilst the GPS tracks you, and then pushing the Zoom button until you're able to make out the contents of someone's garden.

Not quite. Google maps is quite slow, and you can't use it as a GPS really.

But I've got TomTom, Route66 and Nokia maps loaded.

Nokia maps are quite good for finding places to eat and other POI's.

3 have different firmware (slightly) to Nokia and some options are disabled, I'm sure the standby option is also disabled.

You'd be wrong! Stanby feature is not disabled

It used to be on older smartphones. I've debranded my 3 N95 8GB so I don't know.

But if it's not then just goto settings.....
