Nokia N95 Owners - Post your best Apps here!

Hey,

I'm brutally stealing the idea from the iPhone thread, but I have an N95 that I'm hardly using the capacities of at the moment.

What do you have on yours? How do I get Sav Nav on? What's your favourite so people can take a look and benefit too?!

I use TomTom instead of the pre-loaded version. Much better.
Interested to see what others use, so will keep an eye on this.

External. Not aware that any TT can use the internal, and even if it could I wouldn't as there are charges from networks for using via WAP.

The internal GPS can be used without wap..http://www.66.com/route66/products.php?cid=UK for example only uses the WAP for up to date traffic, everything else is done with the receiver

Like I say, not aware that any TT can use the internal. Route 66 is a different system that I have no experience with, but thanks.

So what Sav Nav apps are there around, that are free and can use the internal GPS?

None. That i know of...

Tomtom uses external only.

Garmin costs to buy.. but is free to use, same goes for route 66 and many others, of course.. people do get them for free:pirate: but i dont know anything about that.

Ive heard a good program to get is RotateMe, it will automatically flip your screen if your holding the phone landscape

Well if anyone wants to PM me, possibly to discuss free Sat Nav software then my PM box is available.

HELP ????

DL'd it and installed the APP, but in the READ ME it says :

Installation:

- Install N95AccelerometerPlugin.sis to your N95 device - DONE

- Extract files:
- RDAccelerometer.h and RDAccelerometerObserver.h to your SDK's \epoc32\include directory
- *.dso and *.lib files to your SDK's \epoc32\release\armv5\LIB directory - This has got me baffled. Any help appreciated.

I had some problems with it too, the instructions weren't too helpful. I will check my comp when i get home later tonight and see if i can remember how i fixed it

This doesn't need to be specific to N95 as it's a platform shared by many other phones, as an N93/E90 owner a couple of my favourite apps are:

Fring - allows you to use Skype and MSN, great program and free
Sportstracker - this is a free download from Nokia, never hear it mentioned much but I quite like it. Basically it uses GPS data to work out how fast you're going and where then saves it as an activity by calendar day. You can export your routes to view in Google Earth and upload them to the Nokia server and get summaries of your week by week activity.

Yes, Tomtom won't work with the internal GPS module at the moment.

If your N95 is the original then I don't think Flash support is out quite yet (but is imminent), the N95-8GB has already had this update. I've heard the term 'em tube' or similar mentioned as an option for viewing Youtube but never looked into it.

Not quite - as standard you can browse and plan routes on any maps for free but for guided navigation you need to pay a subscription.

I just ignored the extract files part and just installed N95AccelerometerPlugin.sis and then the light sabre app and it worked great.

Hmmm. That brings up I have V 11.0.026 ... that sounds like an old version! lol.
#32
V 13.0.003 (or something like that) appears to be the most upto date version. Have just the last couple of hours fiddling and getting it installed.
#33
not a program but of great use still...

www.allaboutsymbian.com

in the forums section go to the relevent forum for your phone and u'll find lots of help on all things above board.

For things not so above board, a PM will get u a link to another nice board.
#34
I cant even get RotateMe working, had a bad trying to understand all of this. Keep getting certificate error.
#35
i think its the installer checking for certificates before installing
search the above site for ways of getting around this
#36
But its freeware, I surely shouldnt be having problems?! Why do I need a "get around" for installing a simple app?
#37
OK guys the only site you'll ever need for all your n95 quiries:

http://www.n95users.com/

register with the site (use same coding template etc as this web site). Loads of useful info for debranding etc. I'm there as well username as as this so look out for me as well. :p
