Hi,

I am wondering if anyone knows of any insurance companies that are not on price comparison sites. I know some of them can be cheaper as they pass the savings of not advertising on these sites onto the customer. I have tried direct line, but they won't quote me.

I had a little ding at the end of last year, within my first year (I know, not the best thing to do)

I am 25, but the cheapest quote I have found is £1100. I am going to need a car as I will need it for work, and to get to college.

My insurance runs out tomorrrow, so am going to need to buy it my this evening.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hmm, are there no local brokers you could try? They could do the searching for you. For instance, we went through Hughes who got my insurance from Axa - I don't know if Hughes is NI only though, hence why I'm asking :)

Hmm, yup, might be worth a try. This accident I had was laughable, the guy who caused it between me and another driver drove off scot free and Now we have to pay for it between us. We were both "partly at fault" and the other guy's insurance was unaffected.

Now I have to pay well over the odds!

Thanks for the info DragonChris, I'll search google for brokers in my area. :)

Try adding a parent - they are cheaper to insure than you and it will bring your quote down hopefully.
Try playing with voluntary excess - sometimes a particular insurer has a skewed excess that makes no sense.

Aviva?

As smashed says, get one of your parents on the policy as a named driver - it will bring down your quote.

Go via the comparison sites for the cheapest quote but then go direct to that company not via the comparison site.

If I then have an accident, (god forbid, but you never know) will it affect their premium? I think my mum has about 15 years no claims under her belt, lol

Yup mate, thats the one I think I'm going to have to go with. They have come in at £1012.
Thats 3rd party fire and theft, but as a bonus they are allowing me to drive any other car, insured as 3rd party. Might come in useful.

So I have ended up, buying from Adrian Flux. Thanks for everyones help! :D
