So basically we usually go away at Xmas time...usually the Canaries with a Villa and its own heated pool as we got little kids

Seen some good offers for Cyprus in June ...but they dont have heated pools (only Canaries do at winter time). Thing is water doesnt really heat up that much does it? it will go up a few degrees but will it generally be 'cold' still. I dont wana go there and not be able to use the pool.

So ppl who go away to villas in the Summer...can u use the pools...or moreso can little kids use them?

does this thread make sense!?

pools will be fine, sun will give them some warmth.

after ten seconds you wont even notice if its 'cold' anyway

I'm usually thankful for a 'cool' pool. After a few hours lazing around in the sun it's great to be able to cool off a bit for 10 minutes.

You only notice it's cold for a few seconds after diving in anyway, like what numptyj said.

ok cool......i think someone told us pools are still freezing and hotels will warm their ones up even in the summer!

"Little kids" will happily use the pool as they just get on with life and don't go looking for problems that don't exist..

Now people need to know whether warm weather/the SUN will heat water.

OP - if you see the light on a kettle and hear a rolling sound coming from inside, DO NOT POUR THE WATER ON YOUR FACE.

It will be hot.

PS. This thread does answer the question many people ask about 'who are these stupid warnings on coffee cups from McDonalds actually aimed at?'

Water is a really good conducters, hence people using water cooling in computers. Back to school you go.

i is Science GANGSTA...but lately i have done a lot of research into Rastamouse, Waybuloo and pampers active fit. Science has had to leave the building to make room for these far more important items of business

It should be OK; however in May-June you can have long spells of cold weather; if you're unlucky and arrive after a cold spell then unfortunately the pool will be cool. The real pain is that if it's miserable out (which if you're unlucky it might be) then unheated pools aren't much fun.

It does depend how sensitive to cold your kids are - if they'll go in the sea in the UK at all then it won't be a problem. My kids were fine in the sea and unheated pools in Greece in June.

If the kids have flotation toys that get them out of the water then even if the waters cold they can be floating and splashing around and feel OK.

you're thinking about the sea, a swimming pool can get warmer than a couple of degrees in the summer heat, and with all the kids peeing in it helps warm it up quicker too.

Pee doesn't heat a pool up very much - you might get a nice warm feeling when your baby pees on you in the pool but you just feel colder afterwards...

Conductor not "conducters". First of all your spelling was incorrect, and secondly you can't have a plural of water.

Back to school you go.

We did too and I have been to Cyprus early in June and the pool was too cold for the children. Wombat6025 is right - it depends how sensitive your children are. They have little fat to insulate them like most adults do.
We have paid extra at some places for a heated pool and it was well worth it.

I went for a swim off the coast of Jersey in October with a wet suit, I felt a bit of a lemon when an old lady came running down the beach and jumped straight in wearing just a costume.

MB being a poor man, have been to a private villa owned by my step dad's dad without heated pool in mist of summer and to plenty of other hotel swimming pools without heating and it's been fine.

If you're really worried about freezing your nips off, stay in the children's shallow pool where it is very warm... from the urine not just the sun.

You are in a country with 30c+ weather and you want a heated pool, this forum never ceases to amaze me.

guess you've never been to the canaries in winter then?

temps around 25 degrees but the unheated pools are absolutely freezing!

Went to Benidorm once and the pool was overshadowed by another Hotel, it was freezing cold. However after getting back at around 7am every morning it was good way to spark the body back into life after about 3 hours sleep. X)

Went to Marrakesh and it was between 29-31 degrees, but the pool was absolutely cold. It was nothing more then a decoration piece to look at.
