Global banking crisis and theyre spending a fortune to get Bruce Willis, Elle McPherson etc to advertise their name change. Makes me sick.

Why can't a privately funded company apportion their funds however they wish? I don't remember the gouvernment bailing out Norwich Union.

Spend their money however they wish! No problem from me at all.

What they changing to btw? Aviva?

Arriva, just seems a frivilous waste of money in the current climate, that money could surely have been used to better serve customers ?

It is a bit OTT - but I guess to get customers they might have to be a bit OTT.

Also people might think "oh they have enough money to spend on hiring famous people, so chances are they dont have problems with money; my money will be safe".

But I'm with you on this one.

I think its Aviva they are changing to - Arriva is a train company correct me if I'm wrong?

see how well it works ! i thought it was arriva, too busy looking at Elle McPhersons talents

The only thought it gives me is 'No wonder the financial system is up **** creek when these companies are paying millionaires a fortune to tell us they used to be called Walter'

Ha, obviously the advert doesn't work that well if the customer doesn't remember the name yet remembers Elles talents :)

Tell that to people who have shortfalls in their endowment policies.

They are changing to Arriva, but I only know that as I would in insurance, they would be better to spend their money on UK call centres.

Were The Beatles really called The Quarrymen?

It's changing to aviva

arriva are a bus and train company.

and so what if they are paying celebs to say what there names were, it's about name change, and the add has worked as you are all talking about the company

It's not Arriva, it's AVIVA!!

The whole point of the name change is to make themselves into a global brand. At the moment, the UK is the only place to have the Norwich Union brand, the rest of the world knows Aviva. Ask anyone outside the UK who Norwich Union are and they probably won't have a clue, ask them who Aviva is, chances are they will have at least heard of them.

If they everything is under one brand, it will save them millions in the long run.

I don't really get what all the fuss it about, all that is happening is they are changing their name, they will still be offering the same services as before.

Boo hoo. You pay your money, you take your choice. This is the inherant nature of investment in a capitalist economy.
