Nvidia driver update

I'd be grateful if there are any PC experts who may be able to help.

I have the "coolbits" registry tweaker installed that allows you to overclock your nvidia graphics card using the advanced settings in display properties.

Yesterday I loaded the latest nvidia driver and now find the overclocking facility has disappeared ..I tried reloading the registry tweaker but it refuses to reinstall so to regain the overclocking facility I had to use system restore to take my PC back to a point before I upgraded the nvidia driver.

I am trying to avoid a complete driver uninstall as I'm loath to spending an age having to reorganise my desktop shortcuts..I have so many.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Click on your Start Menu in the Windows Task Bar and select Run. When the command box opens, type "regedit" (without the quotes) and press OK.

With the registry editor open, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \SOFTWARE \NVIDIA Corporation \Global \NVTweak (expand the menu using the "+" expansion buttons to locate this menu item).

Click on "NVTweak" in the menu. Next, right-click on the empty space inside right window and choose "New>DWORD value". Name the value "Coolbits" (without the quotes).

Right click on Coolbits and choose Modify. Change the Value data to "8" (without the quotes) and click OK. Exit the Registry Editor

Advanced options including overclocking should now be available.

Thanks poppy10 for the info...just to clarify before I proceed..do I perform this registry modification before or after I load the new nvidia graphics driver?

Thanks ever so much for your help.

Loaded the updated driver and followed your instructions but no overclocking available in advanced options.

Checked the downloaded coolbits registry tweak and noted that the value data was "3" for the Coolbits entry...so amended from "8" and all is working.

Thanks again for your guidance..rep added
