O'Neill resigns at the Villa....

£0.00 @ O'Neill
Not good this close to the season starting. Financially induced I would presume. God knows who we will get now, rumours of Sven.

I suspect he has something else lined up. Supposedly he resigned over lack of transfer money but why 5 days before the season starts-tapped?
#2
A return to Celtic is being banded around.

I would assume the Milner transfer / money is at the heart of it.

damn it, almost put a tenner on him to be the first manager to leave this season 10 mins ago, odds were 15/1
#4

It seems that him and Ashley Young are both being sold over his head.

he could take over from Postman Pat in the England job for me

He'll be back at Celtic once Lennon gets the boot in a few months.

I dread to think who will come tbh, I would have liked Hodgson if available. Perhaps they want a bigger manager in and tied O'Neills hands on purpose to make him resign.

To be honest Villa are never going to compete for the top positions again so it doesn't really matter that he has gone. He or whoever comes in would / will never get the backing they need to compete with the top 3/4.

The likes of Chelsea and City have put paid to 16 of the 20 premiership sides winning the league.

I think it's more of a case that they weren't going to give him the funds to maintain their current position, let alone improve so he just couldn't see the point in staying. Milner's going and Young looks like he could be too, they've not brought anyone in and all the good work they've done over the last few seasons will count for nothing.

Don't blame him, although I bet the scousers are kicking themselves.

Randy lerner, sharply following in the footsteps of Mike ashley then...
#14
If some of the rumours are true I dont blame him, shame for Villa as hes a top manager.

...after Capello's news conference today and the "I don't know what to do" comment I wouldn't be surprised if this has anything to do with England job. Long shot, I know.

can't believe this, would have had as a Liverpool manager had he been available. Thats two managers now who have quit over Milner being sold behind his back. If the Liverpool take over goes through I could see them making a bid for Ashley Young

I believe he knew about milner. It's ashley young to tottenham that was the nail in the coffin.

OH FFS

Lerner promised so much but not seen anything so far
#29
Think he wanted to buy mcgeady too and lennon said the other day the villa deal was dead. I think its more to do with this than milner. Milner WANTS to goto city, when a player wants to leave there's nothing randy learner can do. Its more to do with no money available to buy.

keep right on.
