Hiya,

I recently brought the o2 dongle off littlewoods, due to a deal i saw going on here.

I already have a iphone sim card, and i am aware they can be put together to use the internet off a laptop (I'm aware of the t&c's of o2...)

however, i cannot get my dongle to see the iphone sim card and connect.. is there any settings i need to change....?

if i try connecting through windows connection manager, it trys to dial some number...?...

can anyone please explain the exact steps i need to get this to work please?...

Many Regards...

On the o2 connection manager, you have to click the settings button and then profiles.
Then you add a new profile.

okay, i tried this again and this is what happens..

when i put the original sim into it, it detects the dongle (the install usb driver is shaded out) and it works..

i then replace it with a iphone sim, and pop it in, and nothing is detected?.. and the install usb driver is showing, so i try to install the driver and it dont install?..

im using VISTA premium?.. anyone got a clue why this dont work?..

I have a dongle from o2 and 2 iphone sims going spare with no use foe them...

RedIron
IMEI number

Hi - I have been using an O2 iphone Sim in an O2 3G dongle and a Samsung Omnia for about 3 months now. My usage is very little, hardly a few MB a day and I have been out of the country on and off so haven''t used it much then either.
Two days ago I got a txt saying that since I have not been using it in an Iphone they have cancelled my free web and wifi.

How do they know I am not using it in a Iphone. RedIron mentions they know from the IMEI but I am assuming they don't get this info sent to them when the phone is in use? How then do they know the IMEI of the phone, if you haven't told them?

I am wondering whether to phone and kick up a fuss - although I did get a good 3 months or so out of it, it may just be worth getting another one. Trouble is you then end up with multiple sims lying around with £10 credit on them....lol

Any ideas? Or anyone else affected?
Thanks for your help!

Every dongle is the same as a mobile phone

But no screen , battery or keypad, as the computer replaces it

Basicly as soon as the device is powered up ie plugged in

the ICC (Simcard) and the IMEI (dongle) are sent to the network (o2) to see if they are allowed access to the network

Iphone allways start 01 as they made in the USA

like Nokias start 35 as made is Norway etc.

so thay can see.

It does depend on how much you use it, and if you keep swoping the sim card around
