If you want a home phone with home broadband, then .. Yes you do need a BT line
O2 don't supply the lines (yet anyway) so you'll have to get one installed by BT

BT will normally tie you into a 12 month contract aswell, so you'll have to move over to O2 phoneline in a year. BB is no problem though.

ok so i need to get a BT line for a year before i can move to o2 home phone?

the place i'm moving to has had a previous BT line so i wont have to pay for installation right?

was gonna get o2 home phone as its cheaper than BT but i dont mind getting the BT line as long as i dont have to pay for installation :/

You don't have to pay for installation most of the time if the line is there - sometimes they charge an activation fee if the line has been down for a while.
