Looks like O2 will charge £20 for every month you have left on your contract to early upgrade.

Not bad for people finishing soon.

Just done the calculator.... and its shows £100.... which is right as got 6 months left.... But it also says monthly...

http://img824.imageshack.us/img824/8763/screenshot20100609at172.png

Surely that doesnt mean i have to pay £100 a month for the new contract?!?!?!

Or is it just a one off payment, and then what ever the phone costs ontop?

so you can pay 20 quid for an iphone 4, (as long as you re-sign another 18-24month contract)

then sell it on ebay for 500!
#7
Can you keep your current contract price then and just pay whatever it is to upgrade?

The early upgrade option will be for you to opt out and then resign a nice new 18-24 month contract with new price plan. Which should be announced soon. :)

Good deal, anyone know how long this offer will last?
#11
They have announced the prices of the handsets in the USA, but not in the UK to my knowledge... Anyone know what the tariffs will be too?

I am considering this, £160 to pay off contract, and sale £200 for phone

£360 total

sell my 3gs for £260+?! so £100 for new phone + contract..... suppose i best wait for some more contract details
#20
£280 for me to pay off mine....so think i will have to wait before i get one..... won't be able to afford to pay it off and pay for the phone :(
#21
£100, plus phone cost. Will have to see if it's worth it.
#22
Mines £100 for mine
Sell my 32GB one for £350

thats £250 towards a iphone4
Mine cost £275 (On £35 p/m) last time :) was the 32GB one tho
#23
£20 for me, but I could wait for another month and get it for free....hmmm....naah! :)
#24
I can't see anywhere on that page where it says you also have to pay for the phone.

I think if you have x months left on your contract you pay £xxx take a new 24 month contract and get the phone for free.

I would be very surprised if that was true. So you would need to pay over the price of the contract for the phone to be free?

no the £20 only buys you out of your contract, you'll get nothing off the cost of a new phone with contract.

I got mine on release day last year so only have 6 months left, but for me I'll be waiting to see the sim free prices

Tarrifs are now available...... what happened to the free unlimited data?

I was just looking at that too...

Also, this bit is mis-leading...

Existing customers upgrading to iPhone 4
If you've already got an iPhone 3G or 3GS, you can get the latest iOS 4 for free.

It states about the software, not the handset you can get for free even tho the title says about upgrading to iPhone4...hmmm

That is a joke if they are doing that!!

If that is the case I will keep my current tariff and just buy the phone outright...

was thinking the exact same thing, the small print says the "promotional" unlimited data expires 1st Oct 2010.... does that include my current contract? I don't think I'll be staying with O2 if thats the case, grounds to cancel you existing contract outright.

Still no prices on handsets though, disapointing, dangling a carrot.

Actually, I think if you get the iPhone before October 2010 they give you the unlimited data.

It would be very difficult for them to try and change your contract substantially in October so I think this is just a way of them enticing people to pay £20 per month remaining in order to benefit from the free data...

It doesnt read that way to me, becuase it doesnt say anywhere that if you buy the iphone 4 before oct you get unlimited data it simply syas.

"Unlimited data on all smartphone tariffs is a promotion until 1 October 2010. Excessive usage policy and terms apply, see o2.co.uk. "

If it relates to something on the table its usually indicated by an asterix...

clarification deffinatly required.
[mod]#34
Just spoke with o2 and they say that no one knows at the moment whether the unlimited data will continue after 1st October if you get your tariff before this date. They said that it should be made clear by the end of next week.

I would rather they put all of their information on the website in its entirety and left no stones unturned. Idiots.

It never has been unlimited data - ie they have already had a FUP in place. My missus got a text 2 months in a row when she went over 1GB and told that if she did it again, she would lose the data part on her iPhone. (She discovered catchup TV!)

I read it, that you still get the amount shown in the tarrif, then can top up for £5 per 500MB in advance. So yes, the FUP (of 750MB ) goes out of the window and you get less for your money in return. No surprises there. It's an Apple product after all.
#36
Puts me right off though, i mean i probably go no where near the data allowance if i had one, but it would be something to worry about as an extra cost...... will have to wait for outright prices now and see what they are.... may work out better that way
#37
Seems that all customers with unlimited data will lose it once their contact is up

I have NEVER ever had a text Guv and I use it WELL beyond what they would possibly consider to be their FUP.

Do you know if there is any way of finding out what you use?!
#39
apparantly you can find out on your online bill?! if you go to what have i used them online data, so far i have used 80mb haha so not too bad

Its on the O2 site in your bill under data. How can you know youve used more than the FUP if you dont even know how much youve used. She used 1.7GB first month, then 1.1GB the next. I rang them up and asked what they meant by "unlimited" and got quoted FUP and getting data switched of if she did it again.
