O2 Open Code **INFO**

Just a heads up for anyone that has a o2 open code and planning to get a new phone. Picked up my Iphone 3GS and the guy said the open code also gives you double the texts on the contract as they class the code as an online deal as well

Ended up getting the 16gb version on a 18 month contract so should come out at £30.50 with discount but the guy said the discount wont be applied until the second bill as your first bill will be generated straight away but month 2 will be 60% off then it will go to the normal discounted price

Nice, if only they gave you 30% off the phone cost too :whistling:

Still cant decide if I will get a 3G or 3GS

where have you been for the last few weeks?

From memory the differences are

*compass
* slightly better camera
* video recodring
* better battery performance
* imporoved speeds when connecting to the net

I would have purchased the 3g version but thought might as well go for the 3GS with it being the newer model even though their is not much difference

I wish mate, ended up paying £87 for the handset as I only wanted the phone on 18 month contract as would have got it for free on a 24 month contract. I am going to drop down to the lower line rental once I have done 9 months as you also get 30% off when you downgrade on the open code so will save another £6 a month after month 9 as wont go through all the minutes and txts on the current contract anyway
#6
is the 500 free texts serious? I used open.
#7
Load of bull sorry, the texts are built into the tariff & cannot be doubled at all

Thats what the guy in the shop said when I gave him the open card so will wait and see what happens when my minutes and txts come on my tariff, not too bothered as wont use them all anyway as 600 will probably do me anyway but wont complain if I get the extra 500 he mentioned

Did they tell you guys o2 open was to go on immediately, or you'd have to wait a few days?

I was told the o2 open code wont go on until the second month so I will pay full price for the first month but they will give you 60% off month 2 then when month three starts the contract will be reduced by the 30% each month as normal.

The guy mentioned once they put the order through their system it would start to generate a bill that would arrive within 15 days thats why you wont get 30% off for the first month but they will double the discount in the second month so you dont miss out

I was told that too.
Did they take down employer details? The woman for me just took the code. Asked for no employement details. said she didn't need them.

All he done was took the open card my brother had which was about the size of a business card and had his signature on the back and a code in the bottom left hand side on the front of the card.

Same here mate never asked for any proof or id/employment

Will be waiting to see my bill for the second month to make sure everything goes though with the discount and to make sure am not paying the normal £44 a month

Whilst it probably isn't anything to worry about, they dont know what they are doing. All the contracts I've had with O2 open have had the discount applied from day one.

And I wouldn't trust what the guy is saying. You MUST ring the O2 open department and make 100% sure it has been applied. Only then (and once you have the persons name who has verfied) can you feel secure its all fine. Seen it too many times. Not sure if they are just being awkward and dishonest, or just lack 1/2 ounce of common sense.

Tell that to RFM.

The sales staff said "The computer says no" and he said OK and walked out the store! :w00t:

Lucky would love an open code, £45 tariff would be great value then for me, guess I'll just hold out.

I had to sign a form confirming o2 open and it's on my contract too. 30% discount (O2 open) it says.

That should be good enough.... BUT still ring them. A mate at work had the same. I told him to ring, but he didnt. It took him 3 months to get sorted. Strike while the iron is hot and you have the upper hand (ie threaten to cancel the contract within the 14 day cool off.)

Quite right.... but ring them. You will get nowhere if you wait until the 2nd bill before you find out. You will be offically tied in.

Cant do it. Its your account. They wouldnt speak to me even if I wanted to. But its not a number you will be on hold with and should be verified one way or the other. Give them a couple of days though.

You joker, when did I say that? lol

My friend spoke to the guy for ages and he just refused to do it, so I told him to pass the phone and explained the situation and he was just being awkward and stated that O2 has been giving them problems about accepting the code etc.

I really want the iPhone but I can't seem to get a reception for it in my house!!! :x:x:x

Just tried to phone the billing department but they closed at 9pm so will phone them tomorrow to double check and ask them to send me some paperwork with it on as all I have from the shop is my direct debit agreement that just says how long the contract is for and the normal price as they guy put the open code through after my receipt was printed

Cos the O2 store is literally right next to his work.

The guy isn't working there tomorrow though, so it's worth trying again.

How was he doing your contact?

I only get 5 of these codes... in fact I struggled to get one for you as it is. Have you given it to someone I dont even know?

He spoke to them cos they're next to his workplace...I haven't given the code to anyone.

A few of my friends have O2 contracts though and they've come to my house and they can't seem to get any reception but when I spoke to O2 a few weeks ago, they told me the new phone was coming out, so I've been holding out for that.

The guy at the O2 shop reckons I've got reception but it strugggles in nearby areas....this is so frustrating...do you think I should cancel my rolling contract with T-mobile and just take the plunge but lose my unlimited offpeak mins bonus on top of my £250 credit, which I wouldn't be able to get again?

They seem to think it does....how can it not work....I'm only a stone throw away from central London...that should be perfect.

All my friends are saying they lose reception the second they approach my house....what's that about? :x

T-mobile is the only network that seems to have perfect reception in my house....since O2 works in your house...do you wanna swap houses? lol

My friends sister just upgraded her contract 2 days before the new iPhone was released and they're charging her £42 per month for the OLD iPhone, with 700 mins and unlimited calls to 10 landlines on a 2 year contract and she thinks she's got a great deal. :giggle:

I got a free 16GB iPod touch with mine, plus £145 credited to my account + the open discount.

Overall, meant my 16GB iphone cost me less than a tenner a month.

It was an offer posted on here in January. (ie free ipod touch)

However, they promised it would be a version 2 ipod - and it was a V1..... so I kicked up a stink. They offered £10 per month discount for a year - but told them Id accept a lump sum of £120 as a credit. The extra £25 were for the accessories I'd bought for the touch, that I couldnt use with the V1 they'd sent. Got this x2 as well. (His and hers matching!!!)

Youve either got it or you haven't. :w00t::p

Now pass the popcorn.
