O2 retention

Anyone renewed a contract with O2 recently ? I was offered a free upgrade deal last week for the new K850i, but when I called this week to place an order I was told it was a mistake and I'd have to change to a new (more expensive) tariff as I wanted to add their new "web" bolt-on. I complained saying I could get a better deal with "3" and the advisor simply offered me a PAC code to move ! :x

Oh man, 3 did the same to me last week, changed their mind! I threatened court action for breach of a verbal contract/agreement and they eventually backed down.
Write a letter, email it to not sure where lol, don't know about 02 but they shouldn't be allowed to get away with that!

Lol they are complete idiots. Both me & my husband had o2 web contracts & tried to get a better deal through O2 retentions & they couldn't even offer us the deals on their website! My husband cancelled his contract over a month ago & guess what???? A new bill came in a few days ago... He phoned up & they said they hadn't received a cancellation email - even though the CS replied to it saying they were sorry they couldn't offer what he wanted...

Glad it's not just me then ! I even got the advisor last week to re-confirm that I could def get the "web" bolt-on added to my current tariff and she said yes. The first advisor I spoke to yesterday referred to my account notes and also said the upgrade was no problems, but it took her around 20 mins to enter my delivery address.

Just to be safe, I called back about an hour later to check everything. This (third) advisor told me that my upgrade to a W580 was def in their system - I screamed (inside) and calmly pointed out my upgrade was for a K850, and asked her to change the phone and confirm the web bolt-on. She paused and told me that the advisor I'd spoken to earlier had recorded in my notes that she had explained it wasn't available on my current tariff (she hadn't). I was then offered an "upgrade" to a new tariff that would cost me another £13 per month (with a £5 discount for 1 year). Oh yeah, and then another £7.50 for the web bolt-on. Bargain. Not.

Just renewed 2 contracts with O2. They're both 18 month contracts but they knocked £10 off each contract per month for the 1st 12 months based on the online prices. So now, one contract gets 1000 texts and 400 anytime minutes for £20 per month for 12 months, then £30 for the remaining 5. The other gets 400 texts and 200 mins for £15 per months for 12 months, which changes to £25 for the remaining 5. (It's 5 cos I can upgrade in month 17 if I want.)

On the 1st contract got an O2 XDA Orbit phone (bloody fantastic bit of kit!)but had to pay £30 for it. The 2nd contract would have been a free Samsung U600, but they've accidently ordered the G600 (much better phone) and said I can keep that for free aswell! :D

I have had nothing but priase forthe retentions department I have been speaking to over the past few weeks. The number I have been rinigng is 0845 6060618. Give them a try if you havent done already. And make sure that if someone offers you a good deal then they write the details on your account. Then if you have to phone back and end up speaking to someone else, they have to offer you the deal which the original person offered.

Hope this helps in some way.

Bit of advice.

Never deal with O2 retentions by phone.
They WILL screw up your bill and contract, and your contract will end up with whatever the person you are talking to feels like.
Do it via Email always, as then you have backup, and proof, of what you asked for and confrimation of such.

My mate only got out of a bill of a few hundred pounds with them as he had email confirmation. They quickly backed down when they heard this.

I went to Vodafone just to keep away from O2 as they messed my bills up too many times to count and i was only there for a single 18 month contract.

So what is the email address to use for retentions?

They never offer anything via email... If you ask them for certain things in your new contract they always tell you they can't deal with it and give you a phone number to call, I've tried many times in the past...

Get them to email the confirmed details to your account if you are a Web customer.

They will do this as thats what my mate did.
Either that or they changed it so they can screw more peoples accounts up without comeback lol.

Ive just a retention upgrade. (From a cancelled contract over 0870 numbers.)

Got a 580i, 250mins pm @£15 and £175 credited to my account. They did mess up as I hadnt transfered over and had to ring up last week. The woman I spoke to confirmed my new account was active and that the credit was showing. I just received that in the post today as well (thanks posties!!!) Now this also is with just 11 months remaining. (Do the maths!!!)

She then said "and you have £35 from the old contract. Now part of my £175 was because of that.... and I said surely thats no right - I have a new contract. She agreed and credited that to a zero balance.

Result.

O2 are paying me to stay with them and gave me a new phone as well!!!
