o2 retentions dept! Help!!

Can anyone help??
Col, a lovely helpful chappie:thumbsup: gave me the number to the o2 retentions dept. My contract was coming to an end and I managed to get a fantastic deal. I got 200 mins and 1500 texts for £25 a month. Is that fab or what???:w00t: I got a Samsung E900 too!!

I told my teenage daughter, whose o2 contract is coming to an end, that I would do the same for her. She wants a k800i so I confidently rang o2 and said I had seen this great deal on a different network blah blah blah.....
It was actually on the 3 site. It was 100 mins and 500 texts for £20 a month with the phone costing £9.99. I explained I would want more texts.
First I was told they couldn't match it yet alone beat it!!(shock!horror!) so I asked if she could have the same as me and the response was 'NO'. I told them I would leave o2 and they said 'ok!'

Can anyone else advise me whether I should try again or go elsewhere??
My daughter wants about 1000 texts and 100 -200 mins.

Any help would be greatly appreciated:cry:

Sometimes people are on certain contracts and the salespeople are told not to renew them at all... as the particular plan may be costing them too much money.

But I'd try again Karen...

you can get 600 mins 1000 texts for 35 pounds a month on the normel o2 website with a choice of a whole load of phones

Try again :)

Col sounds like a nice guy :-D

Thanks guys.....and yes, that Col chappie is lurvely!

£25 a month is tops for my daughters contract. She has to earn that too as i'm a firm mother! None of that 'have a contract and i'll pay whatever it is' in this house! If she goes over, she has to pay me back. Works a treat as she never goes over.

Think I might try again in a day or two. What if I get the same woman????:whistling:

I never have any luck with 02 retentions Karen. I'm going to be ringing them tomorrow to try and get the new K810 on my £25/month contract but I bet they try and make me pay for it even though I've been with them four years.

My girlfriend is the opposite - she is now a member of the 02 exclusive club or something so she gets an upgrade every 9 months and they always negotiate more minutes and texts than they offer me.

I'll let you know how I get on tomorrow.

 Good luck Greg!!

Just had all this trouble with Vodafone, as they wouldnt match O2 or Orange.
In fact they wouldnt even match their own deals on their website.
The oens they offered wer worse, so i told them where to go.

My mum got a great deal off them though with a great phone and she pays half per month what i paid.
Joke man.

That's the most abrupt customer service ever :-D

:giggle: Well, the response was "no, i'm not sure how you got that deal but I certainly can't do it on this contract" which isn't as abrupt!
Gotta find the nerve to ring again today...wud hate them to say "you've already been told, why are you ringing again??"

I wouldn't worry about it. The worst they can say is no.

I'm ringing them at 08:00 to ask about the K810. Orange now advertise it so I'm going to try and get O2 to match the 12 month 300mins 400 texts for £35/month dolphin tariff and the phone for free.

Wonder what they will say

I have spoke to Orange retentions a few times before, they have a certain amount that they can spend to keep you as a customer, calculated from things like how much you have spent over the last year, how long you have been a customer etc. Which is probably why they can't give your daughter the same deal as you.

They will probably have kept a record of what they offered you last time you rang - but its worth another try.

If they can't offer you what you want, don't be scared to cancel and start a new contract. I have done this with Orange before, as their deals for new customers are always better than what they offer existing ones.

Ask for your PAC code, and you won't be walking away empty handed - the PAC code will allow you to use your old number on your new network/contract. This is the point where phone companies no your serious about your phone, will seriously be switching, and will maybe try harder to offer something better!
#13
Right, you have filled me with a bit of hope and enthusiasm!!:viking:
I'm going to get on the phone at 8.00 too and have a go. If not, like you say, I could go through with cancelling then look to what deals they have on for new customers.
Thanks guys....will let you know how I get on ;-)

Due to the market saturation there is no big demand to obtain new customers but to try and keep existing, especially the high spenders. So in essence they offer other things instead of great handset deals. If you dont spend approx 40-50 a month on a mobile you are unlikely to be offered anything great because the networks are not making there money back, this is why handset offers are not as good as they were last year.

Well, although the last o2 call I made was sending me the pac code via a text (that didn't arrive!) I have now come away happier due to having more success this time around!!
The deal I got was a new silver Sony ericsson k800i with 150 mins and 750 texts for £25 a month. I'm quite happy with that!
How'd you do Greg?
#16
I spoke to some guy who offered me the K810 for the £35/month for a 12 month contract. Not overly impressive but the phone only came out last week so this is all I wanted really.

The only problem is when I spoke to them last week and they told me to call back today they got the date wrong! I'm not eligible for an upgrade until Friday so I have to call back then
