Anyone tell me where I can get a staff, I got a mage but all I keep finding is ruddy swords and a random axe, I joined the mage guild and still nothing.

Thanks.

Oblivion really isn't geared towards the Mage class - you'll struggle through the game as all magic weapons have a set amount of uses before they have to be recharged (either by special mages in various towns, Filled soul gems (depends on the size of the soul in the gem) or Ayleid stones, which incidentally recharge ALL magic weapons in your inventory).

If you REALLY want to carry on as a Mage, carry on with the Mage's Guild for now and once you've gotten a recommendation from each of the Mage's Guilds, you go to the Imperial City Mage's Guild to start to build your own quest.

Failing that, look or Goblin Shamens who always carry staffs (mostly found in caves) or Liches, who are found mostly in Ayleid Ruins.

Any good mage will have a dagger to complement their staff :) If you've not bought the Mehrune's Razor DLC, it's worth it just for the dagger at the end (that and the Morag Tong assassin with possibly the best light armour in the game!)

ok thanks, il just forget the main quest and work on the mage guild missions, Ive found it quite easy so far with a mage they come across as op to me I hardly ever go below 90% health and i never run out of magicka and they seem to put out a good amount of damage, but if i start to struggle later on il prob reroll a warrior.

Yep, the first time round I played this and worked on the Mage's Guild first. I got access to Arcane University and enchanted a dagger - possibly the best thing I could have done, as nothing else could come near me. I completed the Arena in the space of 12 hours (game time, not real time!) as I hacked straight through the combatants!
