There's no need for Ebayers to annoy other people...just invest in some scales and buy your own stamps. That's what I do. I just hand over my stamped parcels and that's it! Some people still swear under their breath at me and the old biddies tut and sigh. You should see their stunned faces when I get served and out again within 20 seconds! I must admit, I hate it when people have lots of parcels and they haven't yet filled out their recorded slips, proof of postage etc. You can do all of that stuff at home.

I think ebayers should get to go first (ie me :) )

It's a post office FFS
Why should I be forced to stand behind loads of old people taking 20 minutes to put their pin in the machine to get their money, or the jobless losers waiting for their benefits so they can get their bag of smack, should use a bank.

bank accounts or post office accounts, a lot use the PO accounts as no credit checks and not as strict on id
#13
Why? What rights do you have over them?
#14
Yeah, if anyone's entitled it's the ebayers. They're there the most often, and spend the most money not the ones who que up to buy a 1st class stamp. Or the ones waiting for there car tax - that can be done online too!

not trying to be pedantic.........but not everyone has internet access
#16
everyone has equal entitlements to imo, they may have had to wait for their turn too, no matter how much they have, they are paying customers too.
#17
All the ebayers and the business they create are probably keeping alot of local post offices open :whistling:

I wish more people would use my local post office as it is being threatened with closure.

Do you moan when you do your food shopping when someone has a full trolley and you only have a basket? Do you stand in a line and sigh and tut at the other people in front of you? Or don't you think that other people have a right to the same service as you?

Try and have a little patience, we are all entitled to the same standard of service whether it is for one stamp or 20 parcels.

As for the old people we are all going to get old someday and sometimes this is the only human contact that an old person has in a day, therefore thay are making the most of that human contact.

Right I am now getting of my soapbox.

I suspect this is just a wind up by redranger86, but it's got us all going.
Don't worry, this problem will be resolved within the year - eBay have just bought a 51% share in Business Post and plan to open counters at supermarkets. For a small fee you will be able to take your item, package it up, use free sellotape, pens, string etc., and get it shipped all in one location.

I had five parcels to go today.
#22
Wouldnt it be easier if they just have them collected?

thanks for sharing that, I had 7 :p

Its the ebayers that keep post offices going, your occasional card through the post doesnt bring the revenue in but someone taking 10/20 parcels a day is! Thats what role the post office is there for thats how they make their money, I agree that better paperwork could be completed before going in though and its easier for the sellers to do this at home as they have clear spaces to fill in the relevant bits rather than trying to balance a stack of parcels with one hand and do the paperwork with the other!

yawn

how else are they supposed to send of their stuff? make a whole new service for people who sent more than the average person but not enough to have an account with a courier service? get real! or go to the post office earlier then you do usually when it's not busy if it bothers you that much

I do a bit, as if I have a few items and someone with a trolley rushes in front of me to get served first then thats stupid as if I got served id be in and out in a minute or so instead of waiting 5-10 minutes, but it also annoys me when Im waiting in the queue with a trolley and been waiting 10 minutes then the person who just arrives with a basket and doesnt wait asks if they can go in front.

I used to do some serious ebay posting, once emptied 2 sacks with a heavy load. Feel slightly embarrassed when I was doing it. I quit though because out of a 2 person partnership I was doing all the donkey work while the other was getting the glory.

NOT BITTER, AT ALL

Well everyone gotta be served regardless what they going with, you could get to the post office and huge que and each customer could be just a few mins paying a bill or getting some stamps, and you could just wait as long as if just that 1 person doing a load of parcels.

I only had 3 today,1 within Amazon,and 2 dvds I sold on here.

Getting more fed up with eBay lately.

Without the ebayers\amazon marketplacers\play traders\etc.. - the few PO's we have now would be dead!

I agree. Ive actually gone into my local post office with 40 odd packages for ebay sales in one go but isnt very often as i was only selling stuff i didnt want, not running a business. Any business is vital to keep local post offices open
#34
With all the Post Office closures it will only get worse. I often stand behind a guy at the Post Office who has sackfulls of Ebay items to post out. I often wonder why he doesn't buy & print his own stamps from the Royal Mail website and get the van service to pick up from him.....IDIOT!!
#35
Well I tend to have a rule, if I go to the post office and have more than a fair share of parcels, I will let people go infront of me if I have the time and they only have like 1 or 2 letters (but never the ones who have held me up in the past....you know who you are Old Mrs Purple coat!!) but once I have started to get my mail sorted then that is tough luck, I have qued like the rest and waitied my turn, and now I am getting my post sent :)
I must admit I do get frustrated when waiting in a que behind someone who has lots of post, just have to let it go though as I do post similar amounts quite often, but it is nothing compared to when you have to wait behind someone at 5:15 who is (very) slowly, transfering money from one account, paying off bills in another, adding £4 here and £7 there (what is that all about FFS!!), there the kind of people who should have their own que, one that goes straight to the flipping bank!
The best thing for ebayers/ amazon sellers etc is to try and get there at an unconventional time and for everyone else to get there that little bit earlier, just incase!

The reason behind people NOT printing out labels is that you have NO proof of postage if you print them and drop the packet in the mail.
If you go to the post office, they are weighed correctly, labels applied and you get a little ticket to say it has been sent, so that if anything goes wrong you can claim compensation.

Yeah I had a load of P/O cards which you could fit 10 addresses on each, which you had to keep hold of for proof of postage
#38
What's the difference! You could be behind one person with 20 packages or 20 people with one package (or car taxes, or passports to be checked, or wanting currency - or all three together - the list is endless). Due to the nature of my job I sometimes take four or five vehicle taxes at one time, that takes ages too. I always go to a post office which has three or four staff serving, they are always very courteous and I never have problems. I am lucky, there is one nearby. There are usually long queues wherever you go.
#39
I usually use the prepay system for all my ebay stuff but get more infuriated with the OAP 'regulars who go into the post office for a stamp and a long winded chat about their recent visit to the doctors for their piles or something!
Or worse is when people go in with regular letters and want them all weighing and then lick and stamp about 40 lettters ... I mean talk about wasting my life away!
Or worse are the mentally challenged who go in for some advice on car tax, travellers cheques, current exchange rates etc.... they never understand anything the cashier has to say and then they say something like ... 'i'm not with you' or 'I don't know what you mean' leading to another lengthy explanation.
You see in my opinion there are lot worse than ebayers out there!

when i print my labels and hand the packages in i always get a proof of postage receipt from the guy behind the counter. thought that was the standard.
