oh hell i need to organise a trip there in the next few weeks, how much did it cost you for your trip? how long are you there for?

(sorry i know i'm not being helpful)

Go the Banana Bar - woman in there signed a postcard for me.......................guess where the pen was!!!!

from memory fags arent cheap, but its a few years since I was there. you MUST go to the sex shops-they are hilarious-the size of some of the vibros are simply beyond belief!

young couples browse there with no british style hang ups,but remember the bicycle lanes-they get EXTREMELY upset if you walk in them!

Have a look on here. Fags and perfume not as cheap as they used to be on the ferrys. Went there when I was 14 with the school.

Do some research on the subject of 'Mary Jane' if you want to sample the 'coffee culture' as they offer a large variety of different 'flavours' depending on what result you want to achieve. You might find this useful.

LLM ..

This is a little jumbled up, but you'll get the idea

Buy yourself a little travel kettle to use in your cabin, tea and coffee is approx £2 so it would pay for itself in one trip (dont forget an adaptor)

Food is really expensive too on board, so have a good meal at lunchtime at home and take a picnic for your tea on board. If you haven't already, you can pre-book brekky (best value meal on board) for £9pp (onboard is £13pp) so book it both ways. its a buffett brekky but worth it as you can have bacon, sausage, scrambled egg, toast, beans etc etc, but then all the meats, cheeses, yoghurts and bread etc to make up sandwiches for later each day (the 1st day when your in the dam in particular)

Transfer from the port of IJmuiden to the centre of 'Dam is approx 30 mins so not too bad, and coach stops in the centre of town.

Amsterdam is also expensive so you have to decide whether to have your main meal in town or on board, check out prices on the way over. (The baguettes in Amsterdam are wonderful)

The boat sails about 6pm and doesnt dock till next morning. And by the way, wrap up warm if you are going up top. no matter how warm it is on land, at sea its a different matter altogether.

It isnt a cheap weekend by any means ( i won one of these a couple of years ago - and we are going next month, and its just amazing how much money you can get through) but with a few tips from MSE you can save quite a bit.

One more tip. Go on a boat tour, you will see much more of Amsterdam than you will walking, i think its only about a fiver but worth every penny.

Dont know where you are in the country but there is a bus every day around 4pm from Central Station in Newcastle to the Ferry Terminal at North Sheilds. (or the nearest Metro station is probably Percy Main and then a 15-20 walk from there to the port, past Royal Quays Shopping Park

If you're buying cigs/baccy i believe that they are the same price on the boat as they are in Amsterdam. Perfumes aren't that much cheaper either.. You'll have fun, its a brilliant city.

PS: when are you travelling?
#24
are you going dancing in them shop windows????

Canal Srasse is the Place for the red light/club action hun - though some of the sights in the windows off the side streets are a must. The Sex Shops are a hoot ..every perversion known and unknown. Loads of 'coffee shops' round there too.

Heineken Brewery great tour and a few bevereges

I thought the urinals coming out of the ground at night were funny. No screens .. just stop and have a wee while speaking to the other punters in the street.:)

Have Fun!! x

Dont take photos of the girls in windows, if you do you may find a huge bouncer will appear out of the shadows demanding your memory card. If you do be very subtle.

So any good meals (veggie) to try will be good :)[/COLOR]
