Hi All
I am off work with stress and depression at the moment and do not know what to do.
I have to go back to the doctors on Monday and I am starting to stress out about that thinking they will send me back.

Any ideads of what I can do to chill.
Nothing that costs money as money is one of the risions I am stressed at the moment.

Go for a walk? Fresh air & moderate exercise relieves stress & can help depression.

I have been in the same situation as you and it is a very difficult and horrible condition to have.
Do not worry about the doctors sending you back to work as they will only do that when you are ready and not before and when that happens a staged return is the best way.

I contacted local agencies and did voluntary work for people worse of than myself and it enabled me to understand my situation better and got me back to the world of work faster.

Good luck and just take one day at a time:thumbsup:

dont worry-your doctor will not "send you back" til you are ready-just be honest and tell them how you feel-if you arent ready to go back, then dont-going back too early is the worst thing you could do.

I have suffered from depresion for some time and am on medication for it (Such a high dose it stoped me from going scub diveing on holiday last year which was a bummer)

I have for the last month had a bad blip downwards. Saw the doctour and the counciler who said it would be a good idea to have some time to myself as I had strong feelings to run away from everything and geting some time to myself could be good. So far it has been and although I am still down I am not as down as I was 3 weeksa ago. Its just that today I am a bit board so thought I would ask here for som sujestions and so far have had some good ones which is nice.

Ask your counsellor/GP, if there is a local IAPT service or Low intensity CBT service that you can get a referral to.

I work in an office helping to organise and send tenders to customers. This entails reading Terms and conditions and answering questionairs and sometimes puting presentations together.

Read a book?

Thanks but I just can not concentrate. I start reading a book and end up re reading page after page as it just has not gone in.

Depends on where you live but I was off last year...gardening leave, unfounded allegation which proved to be malicious.

I took to riding a bike, not ridden since childhood. Many councils have instructors now. They were invaluable giving me the confidence to ride a bike (I am not exactly slim). Many months later, I am now up to riding on roads.

Great stress reliever and fresh air. Not everyone can do it but if you can you really will feel better.

There are lots of health things councils provide. GP could refer you for 12wks gym prescription for a small fee. GP / Nurse are normally happy to do this, sometimes without needing an appt to see them, depends

sorry you are feeling down, i know a lot of ideas people give are just sometimes a step too far. just take it a few hours at a time.

i think chatting on HUKD is good and may lift your mood, I have found HUKD ers to lift my mood - sometimes!

masturbation.......seriously it does work! Calms me right down when i'm stressed out and always puts a smile on my face:whistling:

There's always some one worse off, so think yourself lucky you actually have a job which earns you money and enables you to live in a warm house, eat etc. Whenever I get a bit down that's what boosts me back up. I'm not saying it will work for everyone but I thought I'd throw a suggestion in.

Also, I too have had money problems but you can't let it get on top of you - save well, cut as many bills as possible and budget your ingoing/outgoing monies.

Hope this helps.

What about volunteering ?

Spending the day with children or pensioners can be enlightening!!!
