Officers face charges over an attack on Babar Ahmad

Do you think the CPS have got it right?

It seems that the CPS will not take officers to court over the death of the G20 man but will not hesitate in taking to court officers who "man-handled" a suspected terrorist.

IMO the officers at the G20 should have been taken to court, whereas this one I am not too sure, from the pictures it seems that they have used excessive force but the fact that he may be a terrorist kind of makes me think that he deserves it, though reading the BBC it seems that they are still allegations and have not been proven. So I'm unsure at the moment on this.

Discuss? (no thread spoiling)

Doesn't Babar have immunity as he is ruler of a sovereign nation?

So you think the police make announcements when new evidence is found? And of course its "suspected" - its the term used in all cases. Do you want suspected rapists and murderers released too? People don't get arrested and tried the next day you know and im pretty sure he's being held because they have pretty convincing reasons and the colour of his skin has nothing to do with it. Note i can't say its nothing to do with his religion, 'cos we both know its connected. Just a shame people feel the need to defend such people just because he's the same religion. Do you feel the same way about Bin Laden?

TBH the thing is i know someone who's been accused of being a terrorist and he isnt. He has 8 kids whom are all under 14. I wont mention his name. But hes been locked up for 3 years , out on bail finally but in the country where he was extradited. Maybe i'm harsh judging a lot of cases on just this one experience.

I doubt they have any reasons at all tbh and the will release him. No i dont feel the same about bin laden.

They will investigate as the race card will be played, where as at G20 it was white people getting injured. Now not saying the police are inncoent or guilty, but lets just clarify that's where this thread will head.

oh boo hoo "it's one rule for them one rule for us" as far as I am aware the race card has yet to be played. The police certainly do not discriminate against white people you only have to look at the Damilola case to know. If the have been racist in any ways than they should be brought to justice.

If he is a Terrorist than he deserves to be publicly shot. It is people like Omar Bakri etc. that bring my religion down so if it means one less terrorist In the world than I am more than happy for a little smacking, however that is if he has been found guilty if he is innocent than the officers need to be punished.

After reading about the case it seems that he was never charged but is waiting an extradition trial to US for an alleged part in Azzam.com again he has not been found guilty hence why I am still unsure on this.

Fair play to you for saying this. I think my biggest grate is the fact most do not seem to understand this is the case and it does create partition and friction. We even have some members here saying Bin Laden is misunderstood, had nothing to do with 9-11 or any other terrorist activities and that the USA planned everything just so they could invade Afghanistan.

And I agree that if this guy has been ill treated, there is a case to be answered for. I don't however think there is no smoke without fire and my gut feeling is he is a wanted man for a reason! That said, the guy they want to extradite for hacking is a farce, so I'll certainly not suggest its as clear cut as I'd like it to be.

Trust me it annoys me so much when people make excuses or find some way of justifying the actions he took. I lost my great grandfather in 9/11 so I personally do not believe in the crap that is said. Though I can understand the reasoning behind some of these "low" level extremists. Most of them are preyed upon as they are the weak and the emotionally unstable.

Like you said there is no smoke without fire and that is why I am unsure about this, having said that the police have been very edgy and act upon information rather hastily, it is very easy for someone to call up and say that X is a terrorist and the police come knocking down.

The building was being watched and he unfortunately fitted the description of the person under scrutiny and followed.

It was a terrible tragedy what happened to him and I'd agree if you are trying to say the number of bullets fired was excessive, but the officers concerned had to make a quick decision on someone on an underground train they believed was a terrorist at a time of high security because numerous British born Muslims wearing rucksacks decided to kill, main and cause as much destruction as they could "for their religion". It's a shame though that the ones that did a runner but eventually caught weren't given a "Brazilian" because IMHO, they are scum.

I don't think you are suggesting Baber Amhed is lucky he wasn't shot on sight, but the difference here, is no split second decision was needed so to be honest, your argument is as weak as a deck of cards.

Repped. (Or thumbs upped)....

I particularly agree with the thoughts these conspiracy theorists are weak and the emotionally unstable.

The building was being watched, watched! you really believe that is a good enough reason to then go and pursue the wrong guy and shoot him in the head repeatedly?

FACT is they were wrong !!

Your opinion on things is not relevent tbh

Remind me again where I've said it was? It was a terrible tragedy involving a split second decision with life long consequences. As far removed from Baber as you can get tbh.

FACT is they were wrong !!

Indeed... and so was using Jean Charles de Menezes as a comparison. He was so significant, you couldn't even remember his name and call him "that Brazillian Chap".

Your opinion on things is not relevent tbh

Why? Iz it 'cos I iz Black?
