All things about the little urn here please :)

Here is a little article from Sky Sports website for a debate about the upcoming series

Ashes legends Shane Warne and Michael Vaughan have been involved in some pre-Ashes Twitter banter ahead of the battle for the urn.

Vaughan, who captained England to Ashes victory over Warne's Australia in 2005, taunted the ex leg-spinner by claiming Ricky Ponting's men look "very average at the moment" following their Test series loss in India.

Warne, who will be part of Sky Sports' commentary team this winter, was quick to respond with: "Your ( poms ) are very cocky at present , Mmmmm could end in tears for you all, just chill!."

He then added: "What's wrong with it's going to be a great series, close and thrilling good luck to both teams.. It's a month away .. Lots to happen yet! What's with all the English lip ?? You that confident your (sic) winning ? I'm not so sure..."

But Vaughan then sounded a note of caution ahead of the opening Test, coming back with: "All on the first game... If the Aussies go-ahead we will struggle.. Record in Brisbane is very impressive..."

Vaughan and Warne are just two of a number pundits and players who will be tweeting before and during the series.

And so you can keep tabs on the tweets, we've put a special page together pulling in the views of England stars including the prolific Graeme Swann and Stuart Broad, Australia's Michael Clarke and Steven Smith plus Sky Sports' own David 'Bumble' Lloyd and Tim Abraham

usually by now we have lost all 3 games, so far we have drawn one (due to rain), won 1, and about to win another.

Yeh i stayed up most of the night to watch it, Tremlett looks awsome to be honest. Better than ive seen him before. Shazhad is one for the future and money looked steady again.

I can see him ging for a few but taking wickets at important times... Ponting looks so suspect on the pull for the first time
#6
I hope so... the pitches Down under should suit his game. Pointing is still a class act and of what I have seen of him over his career he is at his best when the pressure is on the team. That said I might be mistaking this Aussie team to the one of old!

yeah, well I was traveling over here anyway so thought I would go to the cricket too. I worked for Kent CCC when the Aussies came to Canterbury for the 2009 tour match against England A - worked in the dressing room organising there stuff, sorting hotels/dinner/security. I love the Oz team, not sure who I want to win now!

Australia have trimmed their squad for the Ashes opener from 17 to 13 names - and there is no place for spinner Nathan Hauritz.

Hauritz's absence leaves his New South Wales team-mate Steve Smith and uncapped Tasmanian Xavier Doherty as the only slow-bowling options for the Brisbane showdown, starting on November 25.

The four-man selection panel, chaired by Andrew Hilditch, has shown more faith in experienced batsman Mike Hussey.

Hussey's spot was under pressure after a poor run of form but a timely century for Western Australia on Friday, coupled with failures from his young rivals Callum Ferguson and Usman Khawaja for Australia A in their tour match against England, made it an easy decision to retain the 54-Test veteran.

Hauritz, Ferguson, Khawaja and Queensland paceman Ryan Harris are the four players from the original 17-man party to miss out.
Balance

"The national selection panel (NSP) has picked what it believes to be a strong and well-balanced squad, selected specifically with the conditions in Brisbane in mind," said Hilditch.

"The squad contains a number of experienced Test players and some exciting young talent, and we firmly believe it has the ability to win the first Test of the Vodafone Ashes Series in Brisbane."

Hilditch was also at pains to point out it was tough call to leave out Hauritz.

"Nathan Hauritz is one of the players omitted and he can consider himself unlucky, because his Australian record has been very good over the past 12 months," he added.

"However, the NSP believes the left-arm orthodox variety Xavier Doherty provides against a predominantly right-handed English middle order is the better option in this game."

On the reasons for sticking with Hussey, Hilditch noted: "Callum and Usman are both wonderful young players who we believe will play a big role for Australian cricket moving forward, but on this occasion the experienced middle order has been preferred.

"We felt Ryan Harris needed further time to recover from his knee injury and also believe the four fast bowlers we have selected are in good form and will be key weapons for us winning the Ashes series this summer."

Australia squad: R Ponting (capt), M Clarke (vice-capt), D Bollinger, X Doherty, B Haddin (wkt), M Hussey, B Hilfenhaus, M Johnson, S Katich, M North, P Siddle, S Smith, S Watson

Warne not happy

Shane Warne has hit out at Australia selectors for dropping off-spinner Nathan Hauritz for the first Ashes Test against England.

Warne, who has recently backed Hauritz as Australia's number one spinner, used his Twitter account to label the decision "dumb".

Left-armer Xavier Doherty is now the only specialist spinner in the squad, although Marcus North and Steven Smith can also provide a spinning option.

Chairman of selectors Andrew Hilditch stated that Hauritz could "consider himself unlucky" to be omitted after claiming 38 wickets at an average of 29.65 in nine Tests on home soil.

Callum Ferguson, Usman Khawaja and Ryan Harris have also been omitted as the squad was trimmed from 17 to 13, while batting duo North and Mike Hussey have been retained despite recent struggles. Warne believes Hauritz should also be given another chance.
Harsh

"I think it's very, very harsh on Hauritz, he deserved first crack at Poms. Nothing against X (Doherty) or Smith I wish them luck," Warne tweeted.

"What happens if Smith or X don't do well - back to Hauritz?? That seems dumb to me. Got it wrong way around the selectors!

"I think some of the batsmen should have been dropped if they use the same selection criteria to Hauritz. Let's hope we are all wrong.

"Not a bad record in Australia, Hauritz. Over four wickets a test... Good average of 29... Wow, it's a big call."

Warne returned to his account later on to clarify his comments, saying he will be fully behind the team regardless of the selection.

"As Australians we can all have a go at selectors etc, which is part and parcel of there (sic) job. Once Ashes starts we should all support the 11," he added.

So what does everybody think about KP batting against left arm spin? They had extensive training given to him to this build up and in the warm up match against Austraiia A, left arm spin had him. For somebody so talanted, he's awful at playing them bowlers.
