Oh Dear!........

I just got a call from the other half, and I quote.... "The front wall of the extension just got blown over, on to my car!"
By extension, he means the half built, two storey one he has been building on his own, and his car is his baby!
What am I supposed to say.....?
Who expected gales in June???

I'm no builder but shouldn't a brick wall have stood fast at least??

I may not understand this clearly though.

It might have stood a chance if it didn't have a glazed window in, it was the apex front bit of the upper floor that has gone, the bit waiting for a roof to go on? He was getting to the back wall!
The weather has been terrible round here!
Oh hum!

Dunno 'bout that, he bought it second hand, but he has a trader policy, so he wont be claiming on that, it would put next years premium up too much! I think he might try to go through the house policy? Who knows if it will work though!!! Know anyone selling a cheap front end for a Range Rover?:giggle:

how about one of these to replace?
"Caterham has joined up with speed freaks RS Performance to bring to life a real fire breathing bug killer. RS will be dropping its race proven 40-valve, 2.4 liter RST-V8 into the fully massaged carbon fiber and space frame Seven chassis. That engine will be available in supercharged form up to 500 hp (coming in at 10,000 rpm). With the whole assembly clocking in at 500 kilos, the Caterham Seven RS will sport a 1000 hp per tonne power to weight ratio all at a price of £115,000."

or this

http://bp3.blogger.com/_IveFNaXc6Mo/R8QpbP0hGKI/AAAAAAAAACA/lWjtPEU3gy8/s400/ZapSOLENT0502_800x527.jpg

A car manufacturer has announced it is on the verge of creating a three-wheeled electric sports car that can travel faster than a Porsche.

The enviromentally friendly ZAP Alias will cost £15,000 and does 0 to 60mph in just 5.7 seconds with a top speed of 156mph.

The futuristic-looking two-seater is being developed with the help of British car company Lotus. It should go on sale next year. It is powered by two electric wheel motors, one driving each of the car's front wheels. Unlike a Reliant Robin, the single wheel is at the back.

Together the Alias's motors generate an impressive 321.85 horse power - as much as a Porsche 911 Carrera, which costs £60,000. A spokesman for ZAP said: "The ZAP Alias is unlike anything ever seen or driven on the planet. The Alias will redefine driving like no other vehicle in history."

Really? You dont know us lot very well then LOL! I'm sorry to disillusion you but we are all about as sympathetic as vinegar in a paper cut! :whistling: We tend to like hearing others misfortunes for a laugh!

Just realised how bad we all are! Hopefully the builder will have had liability insurance for his work? All decent builders do anyway! Look on the bright side no-one was injured, things can always be worse! Good luck in getting it sorted to you OH though!
#33
On the bright side the insurance may just allow him to replace it with this Range Rover?

That explains it... we had the worst of the winds in the UK.

Look at what happened to this year's dog show in Blackpool:

first piccy looks like a gorilla knocked over the trellis, then the trellis in turn fell onto the brick wall at the precise weakest point.

2nd piccy looks like a moped ran through it. and escaped.

3rd piccy - the brick wall was not fixed to the pylons then a wind blew overnight and it fell like a weetabix.

Just like a consultant engineer well worth that £700 plus expenses.;-)
