Woke this morning unaware of the events that had already unfolded. Jumped in the shower and thought "hmmm.... water pressure seems a bit lower than normal".....
When I eventually left for work, just before getting in the car, I thought WTF - the road has turned into a river!
My drive is clear (phew), but my next door neighbours drive is flooded. The level is about 3 inches above her garage door (so thats flooded) and about 2 inches below her front door. I knocked to let her know (wading though the water) but she was aware (apparently the water board were called at about 4 this morning - and actually arrived just as I was leaving!) Looking a bit down the road, you could see the whole road had been raised and water was gushing out - resembled a volconic Caldera! The area affected was pretty large!
Missus phoned a short while ago. Neighbours further down the road (and lower than us), had not just their garden flooded - but their house also. Seems a few were affected.
Hopefully the worst is over, as the mains has been turned off and they're currently pumping from these houses. Obviously the road is impassable ATM... and I expect not to be able to get anywhere near the house later when I return home. Clearly its a burst main and the whole road needs to be dug up. What's weird is the fact at this very spot, its happened previously.
Fingers crossed its sorted soon and water is back on...... and they fix the damned thing properly this time!
