Just got a fixed penalty notice for a Traffic light Camera, £60 fine and 3 points. I know when I went through the lights were just changing, is it worth disputing?

Oh balls looks like ya ******ed. You could try and dispute with them. But at the end of the day it's you against the government!
If you went through amber even, then you don't have a leg to stand on. Whoops!

Did they send a pic ? if not maybe ask for 1 and see, I think it should show your car and the red light.
BTW amber means stop ;-)

Yeah I know Amber means stop, I'm a lorry driver , but green dont mean stop and if it changes when you are 2 yards from the line doing 20mph to Amber you would end up in the middle of the carriageway by the time you had stopped

Only show me photographic if I dispute and take it to court

Yeah they didn't have ABS back then on them though did they. I just think they should give truck divers a bit more discretion. Chuffing do 120,000 miles a year compared to the average 12,000, we are gonna make the odd driving error every once in a while, statistics say we will

sorry but gotta ask..when did they change the highway code about traffic lights?? when I first starting driving amber meant " get ready to stop"?? and i still do that but never stop

Sorry mate always been the case, Amber means stop http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAndTransport/Highwaycode/Signsandmarkings/index.htm?IdcService=GET_FILE&dID=95047&Rendition=Web

If you dont trust the PDF file here's the direct link http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAndTransport/Highwaycode/Signsandmarkings/index.htm

Amazingly as a lorry driver you see so many myth beliefs on how people misunderstand the highway code. Dont get me started on the right of way when turning into a juction and a pedestrian crossing in front of you. The amount of drivers that are angry at me cos i let the pedestrian cross whilst I stop the traffic with my lorry :giggle:

Hey just a thought, if you are in an artic, maybe you went over as the lights change in the unit, then the trailer sets off the cam  ( stupid trailer, follows me everywere :whistling:) may be worth a look at the pic ;-)

It's the 4 sign along amber on it's own means stop if safe to do so.

"AMBER means ‘Stop’ at the stop line. You may go on only if the AMBER appears after you have crossed the stop line or are so close to it that to pull up might cause an accident"

I had a light turn amber-red just as I pulled past it was like AHHHHH it had a camera on it too, no letter yet.

there was that case in Spain i think where the local government had fixed all the lights to catch drivers out on purpose
#27
I have heard that an excuse that there was an insect in the car (wasp, etc) which distracted your attention or sneezing as you will close your eyes for a split second then. Probably an urban myth but what have you got to lose!

Nah cos its based on an object entering the camera signal. I think I probably went through it on Amber, which means stop.
#29
I went through an amber the other day as i didnt have time to stop at all as it was changing to red so i think fine, fine wise

Yeah, I have a propensity to ignore traffic lights. I already have a traffic light offense on my licence from 3 years ago

Just when you pass them at 3 in the morning and not a single car or pedestrian is within a mile of you, you think, 'really what is the point'. I maintain they keep going on about saving electricity and environmental issues. If they painted giveway lines on the traffic lights and turned the lights off between midnight and 6am, it would make life so much easier for delivery drivers. And the environment.

Ask for photographs "to help identify the driver" don't mention proof or evidence.

Hold fire! The sensors are strips in theroad, the rear axle of the trailer could have set it off. I saw a lorry case on the afore mentioned PePiPoo. I'll try and find it for you!

I think there are something called the PACE regulations, which say whenever the police prosecute or issue fines then you are entitled to an interview as with all crimes......I'm sure someone told me that once when we were discussing the police targeting drivers.
http://www.hse.gov.uk/enforce/enforcementguide/investigation/witness/questioning.htm
I could be wrong but think this is prior to prosecution etc, etc
