I AGREE!!! but that includes extras apparently.........
i am hoping that extras ARE it does the blooming housework for that!
#5
I think that it seems a fair price for the specs
#6
Does he know about computers? if so it will probli be a good price.

>Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550

Well the processor alone costs over £200

You say he plans to put an extra 2Gb into to bring it up to 4Gb.

To be honest this may not be worth it.

For most users 2Gb is enough, and If he is running 32 bit Windows (the version most of us run) then it will not recognize 4Gb (if the graphics card memory is included)
#8
Windows will only use 2 cores anyway. I don't see he need for anything more than that if its gonna be wasted.

Seems a bit steep for a barebones:? do you need a q9550:w00t:

Done and dusted.
Never check on the price after you've bought something.
Never let on what you paid for a holiday.
Never admit to your parents what you really got up to on Saturday nghts.
These are the rules.

lol, no he has, now hes on about having the pc we got as a server!

Ohhh to be living with a geek!
#17
Nova tech... They put it all together for you and test it.
#18
Should be a decent computer, its a nice CPU - you haven't mentioned the graphics which can also be one of the main cost factors. With PCs its always a case of diminishing returns - a £600 PC isn't really twice as good as a £300 PC as generally they can do the same things, but £600 is by no means an 'excessive' amount to spend..
#19
Theres onboard graffix, then hes gonna do benchmarks ??? wtf! tests apparently... find the base level??!!
He said something like a HD 3870

What? Nonsense.

XP can only handle 2 procesors.
#26
XP can only handle 2 physical processors.
#27
Novatech are generally priced competatively so i'd say its a good price.
#28
2 processors yes, but he's spec only has one processor, with 4 cores:

Microsoft states officially:

“Microsoft Windows XP Professional and Microsoft Windows XP Home are not affected by this policy as they are licensed per installation and not per processor. Windows XP Professional can support up to two processors regardless of the number of cores on the processor. Microsoft Windows XP Home supports one processor. “

i've got a quad core and xp works ok with it (but i use other os's now anyway), it depends on wether or not the apps he's using will be written to utilise all 4 cores.
#29
I guess he was right in saying we need a new pc... the one we got ( which he was gonna use as a server) has just died! Seriously we booted it up and it went off, wont boot nothing now! ( maybe he fixed this to happen!, though his peeeeeeed off face would suggest other wise)
Hes currently trying other power supplies.................. LOL and as im writing this,,,,,,, its now working.......hahah changed power lead, so i guess it was a fuse.......
right im talking to myself now......
morning all
