OMG. Oil was $122 and they said petrol would come down but now it's up at $139.

That's gonna send petrol to 125p a litre...

Haha, the government have got this sewn up.

There was a man a good few years ago who modified an engine to run on pure water. The modification is simple, costs 50 quid, but the oil companies paid him MILLIONS for his method, and buried it.

We don't NEED oil as alternatives are out there, but as long as the alternatives are hidden from us by companies and governments, we will be subject to their whims.
#8
we'll pay 150p a litre because we keep quiet unlike other countries.
#9
we pay £4 a litre for beer in pubs (if we're lucky) what's the big problem with petrol prices!? Who cares!? get a Job you filthy hobo's!
#10
ah its like the 70's all over again, rising oil prices, labour govt talks of strike and next htere'll be the 3 day week being brought back.

it's not just petrol, it's food, electric, gas, the economy, jobs....
#12
I also agree with the problems facing the economy, just trying to wind people up :w00t:

this is just another form of government control. why do you think they refuse to lower the tax on fuel?
they could easily redistribute the burden to income tax or vat but they KNOW fuel prices really affect us - they will cripple this country so that we will swallow id cards, credit crunches and all other manner of nasties.. mark my words - fuel pricing is a means of control.
#14
give it a year or two, we'll all be preying for fuel duty and car tax when they start with road taxing

Are you really that dumb? Have you never heard of solar, nuclear fission/fusion,wind, even coal? IT'S NOT ALL JUST OIL!

Look. READ the post you quoted. You asked about electricity from water - IT IS CALLED HYDRO ELECTRICITY. i.e generators powered by the flow of water.

We are at least 5 years from nuclear once they decide
solar? in britain?:p
coal? who has got the skill to mine coal? They said they would re-open a very large coal mine in a place called Harworth but the workers have all gone?
who's dumb, not me or mclovin

Yes, you can get solar power in the uk, it's not all to do with the sun, panels can absorb ambient light also.
Fossil fuels such as coal and oil are inherently a bad idea as they are finite.
Once a nuclear fusion generator has been perfected, it may well answer all our prayers.

'twas not a response to the OP but rather to another members question. please read the context.

Solar panels are nowhere near sufficient to power a whole country, otherwise, it would have been done long ago.....
if everything was as simple as you say.....why aren't they doing it....
You are simplifying your theories......we are all a hostage to oil at the moment.....

Nuh at the moment we have the second most expensivest in the world.

Probably first now.

I know I've already said you're pretty thick, but seriously... do you honestly think nuclear fusion is the same as hydro electricity?

please stop making comments on a subject you obviously know nothing about.

so grex thinks we will be able to power london on solar panelling through ambient light, another one they thought of on south park...

Where did you get that from? From what I've read recently we aren't even second in europe?
Do you have a link to some stats or something? Would be interested to see what others are paying

http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice/fuel/

Overseas prices have risen. The UK has the ninth highest unleaded price in Europe and the second highest diesel price.

both right lol - 2nd for diesel and 9th for petrol :)

they are simple solutions, you are forgetting the element of control that the government is exerting.
