try searching for Unlock Your iPhone 2G 2.2 Using QuickPwn

search for quickpwn or pwnage tool. then basically do what pwnage tells you.

Do i have to do a restore?

I have loads of apps and i cant be bothered installing them again, so will upgrading wipe my phone?
#8
yes it will wipe it, but if you backup first in itunes then after you're on 2.2 you can restore them all again.
#9
just upgrade it via itunes and then you will have the 2.2 file on your pc in application data / itunes somewhere.

quickpwn will find it if you have itunes installed in the default place

you shouldnt lose anything but it will look a bit burgered up till its jailbroken again.

Quickpwn does not upgrade your firmware, you must be on 2.2 already!
