Ok, i am freaked out..

Was sat in the garden, enjoying a quiet beer listening to some music and surfing the net, when attention was drawn to 2 very bright objects, and i mean bright, with the odd hint of a red trail, kind of like a missle, that is best i can describe it.

Anyone have any insight on what this could have been? there was no noise, so ruled out airoplane or helicopter, and it was travelling a little quickly for that anyway. get planes fly over my house regularly but not the direction these were heading. Never seen anything like it, and i so do not believe in aliens landing on earth...

i live in bristol, and it was inside the atmosphere, a shooting star? there is cloud here lol... and as i said, wasn't THAT far away.. and 2 of them heading in same direction??

i will upload a vid, it took me a while to get camera out, so they were a bit further away when i started recording... will upload to you tube, but shame i didnt catch it earlier i was too busy calling girlfriend outside, and standing in amazement.

Planes usually have flashing lights, don;t they??? these were full on, i just know the video doesnt do it justice.....

It can be the International Space Station. Check your city in this link http://spaceflight.nasa.gov/realdata/sightings/cities/skywatch.cgi?country=United+Kingdom

No they weren't that quick, but the video i;m currently uploading gives a better idea, but as they are heading away from me, the speed is a lot slower than they were... but a plane at that distance would not be travelling as fast as these were... also, chinese lanterns? these were surely too big?
#15
lol at uploading video its most likely the laterns they seem to be the craze atm
#16
ok here is video,

You have to appreciate they are heading away and diagonally, they travelled my eyeline from far right to left and away in less than 30 seconds... slowing as they dissapeare to the left, as i said the video does not do it justice.

Also, it is not clear in the video, but these were miles away!!
#23
I saw some on New years eve and they moved the same way, i think when they get so high they catch a wind and can move quite fast.

Bristol = Area 51
#25
clicky for your vid
The ISS looks just like that when it is going over but I just checked and it wasn't due to be visible from Bristol tonight, so I guess it's a Russian space shuttle. One was docked with the space station recently I think.

jumpingphil will know.

lol, well

stealth technology making it virtually undetectable...... i saw it from my back garden and detected it on a mobile phone camera, so it is unlikely to be a stealth jet.. hehe

Out of interest, how did you know what they were?
Did you release them? I don't know much/anything about them. Do they go out when the air gets thin and then drop to the ground?

Yeah, that is definately more feasible than lanterns lol, i am not suggesting it is x files stuff, just wanted to know what it was, too large for lanterns, although if i only saw that video i would probably have thought the same.

I do believe in life on other planets, i don't believe they are visiting earth however :)

I was in the garden with friends and saw some flying over the coast (heading up and south) and we were wondering WTF they were, long story short it turns out a work mate had released them (who lives right by the beach, i live about 800yrds away) It seems as they got to a certain hight the wind caught them (and on a calm night at ground level) and really carried them quite fast.

Does sound rather hazardous!! Still alight after half a mile ..and they just went on out of sight?. I must admit I giggled to myself thinking how the conversation went re you seeing the flying objects and your work mate owning up it was him.

Definitely wasn't the space station.
It's not due over here for some time now, especially at this time.

I've seen, and set off, quite a few Chinese lanterns and that would be what my money would be on.
Might seem like there is no wind but at ground level and a few hundred feet are two different things.
If you had time to see these, then think, and go and get your camera, then that suggests they weren't moving terribly fast.
Chinese lanterns. http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn219/jumpingphil/thumbsup.gif

Yesterday as I was in the car I saw at least 30 of these things (not exaggerating) maybe more, they looked exactly like whats in your video, at first I thought they were planes as I only saw a few but as we drove further down the road there was an oppening by the forest we were driving by and thats when I saw a hell of a lot more of these things.
I'm pretty sure they are Chinese lanterns as others have suggested, and I've heard they've become quite popular recently and people like to let them off into the sky.
#39
Probably just a new weapon being tested out. Ive seen a couple of stealth fighters go down the valley i live in. Get all sorts of stuff flying about.
Then again willl just be some dumbass alien taking a short cut.
